I don't think that eon is even a worthy competitor for coty. take it to a ghat with 4 persons, you will hate it for ever. The only usable gears in those circumstances would be first and reverse.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

I cross a Mahindra showroom daily on my way to office. No matter what, my head automatically turns towards the showroom to have a glimpse of XUV. Whhaattacaar! With a superb pricing for the feature-packed vehicle, this one wins the race hands-down.

Nissan Sunny is the other car which I like a lot mainly because of its 'Caaar' tag - the rear leg space. However, because of its very less dealership, people would generally tend to move away from it towards the Hondas and Hyundais.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

My Vote: Mahindra XUV500

Reason: I personally have had two TD's of the XUV. An good attempt by Mahindra's to start with.

I have voted for it not because I approve of the product but just because I respect the fact that Mahindra's have started a price war!

Competition is completely taken aback and shaken! This only means that it will help the market get a reality check on the pricing policies they follow.

As for me I had been to the showroom with the intent of buying one.

Sadly, I hated the interior plastics/quality and even the gearshift felt like a Chinese toy. The light weightedness may be liked by some but I for one hated it.

The product wasn't as sturdy as I would have liked it to be.

Add to that the fact; immobilizer is the same unit as the latest Scorpio VLX.

So NO I don't want my car to be stolen again!

For the price to feature ratio; Mahindra's have nailed it!

But how long these features work and what these prices get competition to offer is what I'm actually waiting to see!

PS: The Jetta DSG would be my choice for sedan of the year! (If it was priced well)

Mahindra XUV 500 for me!

Wow! More than 58% really shows who's the boss!

Overall, it's a new and fresh-looking design, aggressive enough to my liking and also the features it's got makes it a good deal in my opinion. Having chased one beast which was under cover and in testing phase till the final product - I am impressed with its road presence!

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

Since the time this poll has been put up - I have been thinking and thinking. I narrowed it down to 3 cars - the XUV500 , the Hyundai Verna and the Honda Brio.

And I vote for the Brio - I know the XUV is a huge step-up for Mahindra but I still have this feeling about the initial batches that could have issues (the other 2 cars can have issues too, but the chances are more with Mahindra).

The Verna went neck to neck with the Brio in my mind but Honda this time have a car that has the ability to pull sales, being fun to drive and priced perfectly too.

For me its the Honda Brio.

XUV 500. Commendable effort from an Indian company. The killer pricing exposed the toyotas(read Innova and Fortuner), skodas(yeti) and tatas(aria).

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year 2011. EDIT : Mahindra XUV500 it is!!

My reason to vote XUV500
1. A good Soft road SUV
2. Very good equipment level for the price
3. A Spacious 5 seater for long trips and a good 7 seater for city travel
4. A sure headturner (personal experience with my friends XUV)

and finally the most important one
I have booked one :-)

Just a quick question - why isn't the Chevrolet Beat here in the list? That too has come out with a fantastic new diesel and LPG engine this year! And its a great new buy with the fantastic sales figures already.

Cheers!

I voted for Mahindra,Reasons

1. A VFM Product
2. Giving neck-to-neck fight to the Japs Koreans and American manufacturers.

I couldn't have voted for anything else but XUV500.

Its a giant leap by M&M; what a car. I was blown away by the first glimpse of it even before it was launched. Truly commendable effort by Mahindras to create affordable and feature-rich vehicle. And I am sure its niggle free from the day-1 - All things done right what Tatas could not do with Aria.

I voted for the eon. Its the first credible attempt by any car manufacturer to challenge the Alto/800. The Nano could have been the one but it fell victim to its price constraints.

I was first one to vote after GTO for XUV but its quite amazing to see very less votes for National car Swift. Does it means that we at Team-Bhp think very differently than regular buyers who doesn't have access to forums like this or has no time for it or doesn't know about it.
