quite a nice and photogenic shade. Drove a 1.4 petrol linea dynamic at janpath. The raised suspension really works wonders over the speedbreakers.

Re: Fiat Linea & Punto 2012 Models - Now Launched

Thats really comforting and encouraging or better enticing to grab one more fiat .
Now the Fiat are putting their act together and wish that all new Linea and punto sell in good numbers.
But for the average joe,the fiat is still a far cry ,its more in the league people for whom car is just not the means to take them to places rather its more subtle and more involved experience which gives them kicks with each drive .

Is that an OEM rear spoiler? Should be an accessory right? Don't think I have ever seen one before.

^^^^ Is it that rear spoilers gel better with sleeker cars as far as looks are concerned? Linea is long but a bit rounded at the ends to give that stunning Italian original look.

As far as a Linea is concerned, is there some minor improvement in performance brought about by sporting a rear spoiler (may be due to an enhanced aerodynamic effect?). Wonder if this can be commented upon or generalised without a model specific study!

I always believed the earlier MJD (2011) had the potential to do 0-100 in 13.5 seconds and in relation to that I will say this will take 15 seconds now. But as I sat in the car at the back for more rounds with Suresh and Ramesh driving it, I actually felt fast.. may be I am too addicted to taller and powerful 1st and 2nd in the T-Jet. I always rev her to 6000 in 1st and 2nd (atleast most of the time). Overall I still feel the performance to have slightly taken a hit.
Now all that we need is only one thing - a bigger engine to exploit the chassis of the new Linea, it surely begs for more power given the brilliant handling. For a normal buyer, this will very well solve the purpose, since I know the current Linea will very well pull all the way to 170/180 types or happily cruise in 120 all the time.. but for an enthusiast (or am not sure how to call.. a speed freak) who would want every other car to disappear from his rear view mirror be it in a traffic light or on a highway, a 1.6 is needed.
Have you driven the Skoda Rapid/ VW Vento? How do you think they compare against the new Linea?

Are you asking about the ride & handling package comparo? Am sure acceleration wise, Linea should be the farthest. For ride & handling, there could be a noticeable difference - some one please clarify.

But again, Vento / Rapid should score better on the quality front too. I guess the target audience for Vento / Rapid should be quite different from Linea.

To those who drove the car: Is there a place to keep a bottle of water yet, or are we still depending on the seat pocket?

Re: Fiat Linea & Punto 2012 Models - Now Launched

The ground clearance and turning radius was what made me book the Swift instead of the Punto. Now when I am about to get delivery in about a week's time comes this modification. Too bad

No spoilers were present in the 2012 Linea that we test drove. I believe this won't be available as a standard.

I haven't driven Rapid yet. I have driven Vento TDI. And here's my observation.

Outright Performance - Vento/Rapid -> Linea
Performance on Highway - Though I haven't driven Vento/Rapid on highway, Linea MJD is a different beast when it enters the highway.
Quality of Interiors - Vento -> Rapid -> Linea
Ride & Handling - Linea -> Vento/Rapid

Re: Fiat Linea & Punto 2012 Models - Now Launched

If Fiat has managed to improve the interior quality of the new Punto & Linea, kudos to them. They are atleast trying to listen to market feedback and trying to work towards resolving the issues.

Compared to Fiat, there is another car manufacturer, which continues to spend millions on facelifts but are not able to address serious concerns with their car's steering & A/C, which have been persistent since that car's launch in India.

Performance is definitely better in Vento / Rapid. Period.

In both straight line and in-gear acceleration, Vento/Rapid wins hands down. The only saving grace for the MJD is - our highways have corners more than straights!

Re: Fiat Linea & Punto 2012 Models - Now Launched

Me and my wife have a plan to upgrade my current Linea MJD Emotion Pack with Linea MJD Emotion 2012 Model (Sun Beam Biege Shade).
Earlier I planned for SUV in the range of 20 Lakhs.
Toyota Fortuner is the Front Runner and next wit XUV5oo.
But my Parents are deadly against to buy any other car/SUV than Linea as they have been travelling almost 30K kms in my car with me and even now they are really enjoying travel by Linea rather Rail or Bus.
Good FE (21.8 kmpl in my last trip with 100% AC), Ride, Style, Boot Space and Adequate Passenger Space & Power (having RaceChip), Friendly A.S.S Team (Read VST Motors). What else we need.

Already have much experienced with my 3 Years old SilverStreak Linea. So this upgrade will be much better than buying some new Car/Brand.

Need to TD New Linea and post my experiences. Decision will be taken once see it in Flesh.

Really glad to hear about your satisfactory experience with the Linea MJD. You would be the best person to compare and judge the Linea 2012. Eagerly waiting for your report.

Looking forward to your test drive and comparative analysis between old and new linea mjd .After a long lull ,it seems that Fiat is finally hotting up to its competitor .Lets us see how the customers react to it .
IMHO customers do not take informed decision regarding their buys ,they rather go with the flow or rather take the easy route out and take the tried and tasted path ,moreover as regards the fiat ,the company itself has to blame as they have such a great product line up (read punto and linea )and still the sales figures are struggling to catch the 1000 mark per month.
Its more than my desire to see that the people start taking note of the product and buy it,after all the discredited after sales is not as poor as often made out to be ,as far as I have realised in my relations with fiat in last two years wherein I and my close friend came to possess one fiat palio slx 1.2 and another punto mjd diesel between us.
regards
