The pricing if true will surely be a tempting proposition for someone considering a DZire or Manza. I just hope Nisan doesn't leave out ABS and passenger side airbag like they did in the Micra diesel.

This puts it in rapid territory rather than dzire territory.

What is then left is to think of the service network and efficiency factors. If the base version comes with abs and airbags then it will be a good competition to knock out dzire Zdi, else not really. Time will tell
Here is the link of the news: Nissan Sunny Diesel Specs Revealed!

Also there are lots of differences between the build quality of a Dzire and Sunny.

Hope so. Then it would be a good option for taxi segment too, where Nissan can expect some more additional volumes.

Also, the price difference between the petrol and diesel sibblings seems to be on the lower side of 75 to 80K as mentioned earlier. This might further help in decision making for the prospect "Petrol or Diesel?" customers.

Any guess on how the new add for Caaaaaarrrr would be?

Driver, Caaaaaaaaarrrr mein Looooooonnnnng drive jaana hai. Leke aaaooo?
I don't think that 'normal' taxi operators would bet on a taxi which has very thin presence in terms of service network and resale value is still unknown.

This time they can make an Ad:- "Driver, Diiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssel Caaaaaaaaaaaaaarr lao!"

Cheers!

This car is going to be a game changer for sure in entry level diesel sedan. The power figure are too good. Dzire and Fiesta Classic are sure going to feel the heat. This sure is a caaar. We recently bought a Ford Fiesta Classic TDCi LXi. If I had known this car would be coming out at the Auto Expo would have surely waited.

I have seen the Car and the leg room for the back seat is awesome!! The diesel variant will surely sell like hot cakes if marketed properly and backed up by good A.S.S.

Will be lining up for the TD once it is available in Pune.

Seems like an excellent pricing for a CAAAAR if that becomes real. But;

Whatever, the confused looking exterior design (want to be squarish? round? oval? fluidic? dyanmic? What??) and boring interior just dont do justice to Nissan's strategy.

Killer pricing! Hope this is not "introductory price".

With a price like that, most customers might not have an issue with the looks of the car. If its is VFM, even ugly sells in big numers (DZire).

re: Nissan Sunny "Diesel" - Rumoured to be priced at 6.6 Lacs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi)

if its the same engine that does duty in the logan and the micra the engine is good. The cabin is spacious. Car is not that heavy. This is going to sell for sure.

Suddenly the Logan looks exorbitantly pricey. The Sunny has modern interiors and is more spacious compared to the Logan and with comes with better looks. If Nissan gets it right by having a better service network Logan is dead for sure.

I think Nissan aims to sell in the cities where the dealership network can reach the customers and they might actually upset the Dzire. Also I think Nissan is considered a premium brand and so might be at an advantage than Dzire.

So you mean to say that there are ONLY two variants? And the diesel commands a 1.2L premium over the petrol mid variant ? Man, that's some guts by Nissan! We were expecting an 80K premium and these guys disappoint with this pricing. And why NOT a base variant? That would have been a nice value proportion at even 6.8L ex showroom with ABS & Airbags standard.

Caught testing today - near Guindy, Chennai.

By the way, 1.5L diesel engine producing 86 bhp? Which engine is this? The same Logan DCi engine?

Any characteristic difference visible between this assumed Diesel & its Petrol version ?

Its going to be powered with the same 1.5l K9K Diesel engine same as Logan/Verito but with bigger Turbocharger & Intercooler to make better Power Output figures, which will be in the range of 85-86PS.

Got some Info about the 1.5l, 85PS K9K engine:

Name: 1.5 dCi 85
Code: K9K 796
Capacity: 1461 cc
Configuration: Turbocharged Diesel I4 SOHC
Power: 63 kW (86 PS) at 4000 rpm
Torque: 200 N·m (148 lb·ft) at 1900 rpm
Top Speed(in Duster SUV): 156 km/h (97 mph)
0-100kmph(in Duster): 13.9 s.
Fuel efficiency: 5.1 l/100 km (55 mpg-imp; 46 mpg-US)
CO2 Emissions: 135 g/km.
{Expect Top Speed, acceleration & Fuel efficiency to improve in much lighter Sunny sedan}.

Didn't notice anything, except the exhaust which was big and appeared like it had visible soot, typical of diesel cars. Frankly, I haven't seen sunny enough times to notice subtle differences, if any. Infact, without those tapes masking the badges, I would not have noticed the car at all!

With a bigger turbo, I hope they don't sacrifice the excellent driveability that the engine has become famous for!

Proven diesel engine, spacious interiors and decent looks. It has everything going for it. Now if priced at around 6L, it will be killer VFM preposition IMO.
I wonder if Renault is learning anything from Nissan in India!

If 6.6L ex-showroom is true we are looking at a game changer here. Dzire atlast will have a run for it's money?

Re: Nissan Sunny "Diesel" - Rumoured to be priced at 6.6 Lacs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi)

If rumored price is true, definitely a game changer in the making. More headache for Honda, specially, already struggling due to multiple production issues & absence of diesel variant. Long live competition .

At the risk of repeating, I'll still wish Nissan doesn't leave out ABS & Airbags as standard.
