Hi,

I am planning to buy a new car. I would love to buy Ikon 1.6 if its available, but both the ford dealors in blr told no way..
I had a quate of 5.25L for a 2005 sep Ikon1.6 from a user car dealor.

car has done 10000 KM (a bit too much in 6 months ?)
has mp3 player, leather seats, spoiler

Is it a good deal?

wat other things I need to verify.

Is it the EXi or the SXi model?

You would still be having warranty on the car, so even if there is any problems, you can get the parts replaced. As far as i remember the warranty is 20000 km or one year (can check the manual regarding this if you want). So i guess the 10000 kms in 6 months shouldn't be much of a problem.

Just make sure there are no accidents and insurance claims.

The Exi model was available for 6.10 on road and the Sxi for 6.45 on road after discounts when i bought the car in feb 2005. They started offering another 10k in discount later on in the year. The Sxi came with factory fitted mp3 player while the Exi was provided with a free mp3 player by the dealer.

As far as the used car price is concerned it can go down depending on your negotiating ability.

FOr that kinda money, go get urself a NEW baleno.

I guess its too costly for a Ikon 1.6 as it isnt sold anymore.

It's overpriced in my opinion. During Oct/Nov 2005, EXI version was sold at Rs 5.5 lacs (on road) in Bangalore. Compared to the SXI, it did not have the MP3 player, alloys, spoiler. While cost of leather seats depends on the type you pick up, the cost of all the other stuff would add up to Rs 36000/- (Rs. 20k for alloys, 8k for mp3 player, 8k for spoiler). Hence, the price of a "new" modded EXI shall work out to Rs 5.86 lacs.

Cost of two years extended warranty (in addition to the first year) is Rs 9.5k.

Also 10000/- kms in 6 months is on the higher side which should act against the offer price.
