Nope no discounts really. Corporate discount only and maybe haggle another atleast 5k to 10k off the diesel

Companies like Maruti and Tata are giving big advertisement mentioning huge discounts for various models but in reality it is a farce and meant only to attract customers and to mislead them!

I've spoken to quite a few dealers of both the companies and they all admit that this offer is in name only, actually they depreciate the estimated value of the car by the amount of exchange bonus and then give a quote, for instance Maruti is quoting Rs 20000+Rs 15000 for a 99 model matiz in good condition for which a regular second dealer is willing to give Rs 35000 at first go!

Regarding TATA they give out a big advertisement and quote in big letters ' Exchange any car, any model and get Rs 40,000 exchange bonus+resale value of your car+Rs 10000 cash discount for Vista'. While the dealer says either we will not take back the Matiz or give only Rs 35-40000 meaning that the car has zero sale price.

I spoke to both Maruti and Tata customer care, while Tata customer care took my complaint and promised to get back, Maruti expressed helplessness and were not ready to admit that this is misrepresentation on their part.

Only honorable exception is Hyundai where exchange bonus, if any, is over and above the fair resale value of the car and they are willing to allow you to sell it outside and provide the proof and still get the exchange bonus of Rs 15000 which comes as a cheque, i guess straight from company.

My problem is with the attitude of the company and not resale value of the old car per se. They can, by all means, not have any exchange bonus but to give misleading ads in newspapers is considering the customers as fools that can be taken for a ride and is a very poor marketing strategy for long term customer satisfaction.

All right guys, after some more negotiations I have finally managed a discount of 1.5 lakhs on the Skoda Yeti Elegance with some extra freebies thrown in like mud flaps, floor mats, teflon coating and anti-rust treatment. These are not real discounts. It covers many things like exchange bonus, corporate discount etc. When you go to buy the car, real story comes out.

Cant we do anything against these fake advertisements? Today also i got some pamphlet saying Alto at some 1755 Rs EMI only. Its basically for Rs 1 lac loan for 7 years, nowhere it is mentioned. They just put * and fools us.
