Today's ToI has an advt for Volvo S60 D3 engine at ex-showroom price of 23.99. It's fully loaded and awesome to drive. Why would anyone pay 31 lacs for an outgoing 3 series when you can get this for much less.

Let me clear all the air on the ads being posted for the Optra -

The mighty reduction in prices is being offered to dealer if they pick up bulk orders from GM Halol.

No dealer is willing to take bulk orders on the Optra (by bulk I mean 20+) and consequentially the reduced rates are not being offered.

On how you can save on the Optra is -

1) Take maximum discount from the dealer - 30~40K off from the OTR.
2) Get your own Insurance, get the NCB or haggle the dealer or get our own quotes.
3) Instead of the freebies, take the money off the OTR.
4) Registration charges, compute them personally on the % for the state and then reverify what the price list says, in my case I was able to save 3K on this alone.
5) Pitch in dealers against each other.
6) Buy the car towards the end of the month/quarter to maximize discounts as dealers have to meet their targets.

Well, as it turns out, the Volvo is a CBU and so it attracts double registration charge of 18%, taking the OTR price to about 30-31 lakhs.

The February discount is about 1.6Lakhs on the Yeti. I was also offered 2% discount on finance + about 18K to round off the total.

Skoda dealers are also open to the free insurance offer, which takes the total cash discount tally to 1,60,000/-. (Flat Cash Discount + Free Insurance + Corporate Discount)

Push for free insurance + corporate discount over and above the 1,00,000/- flat cash discount, and you will get it. Haggle hard and don't relent till you get it. If needed, tell them that you are getting this offer from another dealer and pit this against your dealer.

I heard from friends that there are discounts on the 4x2 variant as well. Push the dealer for this and one might get it. March is looming and they will be easier to bargain with.

Hi Folks,

I had gone to Auto Expo 2012 at Pune. Checked out the Mitsubishi stall for Cedia. Price offer was 7.99L ex-showroom. The sales guy informed me that only Cedia sports is available. This one had beige interiors instead. Cedia sports used to have dark interiors. Cushions used to be black with red line running in the middle which too seem to be done away with. Did not seem like Cedia Sports to me, looked more like Cedia Spirit. With the pricing slashed, this seemed like a worthy sedan. Did anyone check it out.
