For your information, Etios Liva diesel has ONLY one variant, GD. There is no top-end or base model. Its seems illogical, but cant help with the way Toyota these guys think.

GD and GD with airbag. IIRC, its GD and GD with something monogram for the second model which is costlier by 34k .

re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

Further to my enquiries with Tata dealerships regarding the Safari (posted few posts earlier), I checked with the Mahindra guys (over phone) on the Scorpio and the XUV 500 today.

Prices mentioned are all inclusive - even 2+2 extended warranty:

Sireesh Auto:
Scorpio: SLE - 11,67,000/-, VLX (RWD, Airbags) - 13,44,000/-
XUV 5OO - W6 - 14,43,000/-

India Garage:
Scorpio: SLE - 11,55,000/-, VLX (RWD, Airbags) - 13,50,000/-
XUV 5OO - W6 - 14,57,000/-

India Garage is offering some corporate discount (amount not disclosed) and exchange bonus of 10K. Sireesh said no dicounts, "but I will get you the best deal". Particularly liked the way the guy at Sireesh spoke - nothing like the sales guys at any other dealership. Offered test drives - will get the Scorpio to my place tomorrow and take me to the dealership where I can try the XUV 5OO, and then drop me back. So I guess I can have a pretty decent shot at both cars.

Wait time for the Scorp is 1 month if the preferred color is not available, while for the XUV is at 2-3 months - until very recently I was hearing about 5-6 month long queues for the XUV. Demand shrinking that fast, or was the wait time in the last couple of months artificially inflated? Or could it be some cancellations? Maybe I am reading too much into this. Maybe it is just a bait-and-switch that the dealers are playing.

In the meanwhile, I am still awaiting opinions on the Safari deals that I posted few posts back - particularly on whether it is advisable to go for the 2 from previous years (Dec 2010 and Dec 2011).

I purchased RITZ VDI in Feb 2012 here in Trivandrum. Being diesel model I was given "ZERO" Paisa Discount and "ZERO" paisa accessories. Now I see in a vernacular daily, it is offered with Rs 20,000 discount. If someone presses, I am sure he will get some accessories too! (Shrug)

re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

I've already posted this query in the Beat Vs Figo thread, but thought this would be a better place to ask about the pricing.

I've decided to go for the Beat Diesel PS (based in Chennai).

I got a quote from 2 dealers. Firstly, I tried at Khivraj Motors, and they quoted a price as below:

Ex-Showroom: 4,59,490
Insurance: 16,892
Reg. + Tax + floor carpet: 56,949
Total on road price: 5,33,331

I'm planning to get an audio system fitted to it. And also the mirror as the PS comes with only one mirror. I tried for a discount or some such, but they were least interested in that. I wanted the cocktail green colour and they said it'd cost an extra 6k as well.

Secondly, I tried at Sundaram Motors. They gave the same quote, but after talking a little, they said they could adjust the price so that they could get me the cocktail green at the same price as in the quote (i.e., no extra 6k).

I now plan to pit this price against Khivraj and see if they fold in and give me a better offer.

I'm planning to book it within a week. I'm not in a hurry, but if all things fall into place, a week should be possible, I guess.
Any comments, advice on the price and my approach would be most helpful

Thanks

Punto 90HP (Not the sport edition) at 7.4 OTR

Its just too tempting. I need reasons not to fall for it!!

^In Pune, the OTR is 8 lacs. 7.2 lacs is too hard to resist.

Relax, you saved yourself the additonal excise duty levy which I'm guessing would be atleast 10K odd

Following the above quoted post, like I'd planned I told the rep from Khivraj that Sundaram Motors is offering me the cocktail green colour and the extra mirror for the same price quote. Actually they never promised the mirror, I just added that bit. The guy instantly said that he can offer those too (while he said that no discounts are possible for the diesel variant when we did the TD yesterday). I told him that I can consider him only if he can add on top of those features as Sundaram Motors already told they're offering those. He said he'll talk to his manager and get back to me. He called me back in half hour and said that they'll also offer the following in addition the already promised (verbally):

1. A Body Cover
2. Steering Grip and a
3. Perfume (seriously?)

I for one, am not impressed with these. These seem to be meagre to me. Now I'm confused whether as to pester Khivraj guys for a discount or to go straight to Sundaram motors asking for a better deal. Personally, I prefer Sundaram motors as their service center is nearer to my place and also they're more reputed as a brand. This is actually my first time buying any vehicle. I feel that I'm beginning to struggle. Even after reading a lot of advice on the forums and listening to tips, I'm not sure as to how to proceed here. I talked to the Khivraj rep as if I'm going to buy the car tomorrow, just so that he falls for it. In reality, I don't know what to do. Help me out guys. What do I do from here?

Go with Sundaram & it is nearer to your place, even if this means shelling out a few extra bucks. (This can be recovered in the trips you make later to the showroom/service centre). Don't haggle too much on petty things, this can mar your whole experience of buying & owning a new vehicle. Rather put those efforts in contacting existing customers of both these dealers & learn from them how their experience have been so far in dealing with each of these. Did they have any bad experience, how is the staff, how are their processes etc.

All the best for purchasing your first car

Thanks a lot for the reply mate I wasn't thinking about the dealer experience in general. I'll ask around for feedback on them as well. And yeah, even I felt that I might be over-doing with the haggling bit. But since I read so much about ways to get the dealer to offer discounts, I guess I got carried away a little. And thank you once again for wishing me well on my first car. I'm really excited and nervous at the same time as well.
