Hi People,

Planning to book Sx4 Celebration model (Diesel). Following are discounts which are being offered to me

50K- Company discount
50k- Exchange bonus
28k- Car Value Maruti 800 (2001 model)
5k- Buffer
2K- on car blue tooth kit ( i would be paying 1k towards the blue tooth kit)

Please let me know, shall i close the deal with the dealer?

28k for Maruti 800 (2001 model). It is wayyy too less. I suggest you bargain hard on this. I think the value should be atleast 65K or atleast 60k.

Exchange bonus is given by Maruti and the dealer does not give it from his pocket. Bargain on your old car and try to get atleast 50k.

This is a classic trick that the car salesmen use. They will pretend to give you big discounts on the new car but will actually be suckering you into selling your old one for much less than what it's worth.
All in all you wont get that amazing deal that they will make you believe you are getting

If this was a decently mainted Maruti 800, i would have bargained, but there are loads of dent, suspension overhaul needed, engine in fair condition. The car has done 63,000 kilometers

Take her to a decent paintbooth. Removing dents and a doing a normal polish will cost you 5k. Take her back to the market for sale. I still think 50k should be a decent price. I have seen 2002 hero honda - splendor sell for 15-16k. 28K for M800, a car on 4 wheels is just wayyy too low.

You can get 50K off(corp discount they say, but am sure they will offer that to non-corp sales also) on the Jetta. You can save atleast 35% on insurance if you get it done outside. And if you are really good at bargaining you can expect another 10-15k off plus some freebies like mats, car cover, sunfilms (even though its banned!) etc.

80Ks (28+50) for a 11 year old 800 honestly isnot a bad deal. I find the price quite reasonable
You are getting discount on a Maruti diesel

Try this on a Swift or dzire and you will see the difference.

Since SX4 isnot the best selling Maruti, you can bargain for some more price on your 800 (if possible)

Mumbai ( no detailed breakup available ):

Sai Service Andheri quoted :

5.47 Lac on road, ( including corporate discount of 4K ), mud flaps and mats were to be given for free. Thats it. Nothing more. Waiting of 2 weeks.

Automotive Nasik : ( i bought the car from them a week ago )

5.23 Lac on road, ( including 15K maruti discount, 6K friendship discount, the owner is dads friend and 4K corporate discount )

Freebies : mud flaps, mats
Paid stuff : 3M coat for 2.4K.

Pioneer aux and usb player, 4 speekers bought from a store at Chembur for 7K


Also, nasik dealers have both petrol and diesel cars ready for delivery if the color is not white, mine is silver VDI.

Ritz VDI ( ABS ) has a waiting of 2 weeks, thats really sad because i wanted to buy it but i feared the price rise due to the new excise might get applicable anytime.

Thanks Turbokick, appreciate your response, i have finally closed the deal. Honestly my Maruti 800 is only worth 28k only. Except engine & tires, i need to spend money on everything.

Its the celebration model for which i have closed the deal. I bargained hard, so the dealer added additional 5K discount
