If so, will I be able to get this reduced from the road tax?...

NOT in Bangalore as far as I know!

I was told that some time back, expensive cars were shown as bought under H-E-A-V-Y discounts (on ex showroom price) and the owners benefitted from the lower RT. To counter this, now the discounts are marked on the OTR price.

I think this is same across state.

Also remember reading sometimes back that the Government was concerned on Manufacturers paying taxes on discounted prices as it leads to loss for Government. It was advised that for tax purpose ex.showroom price will be taken as base and not any discounted price. Not sure it was for excise duty or road tax.

I don't know how it sounds stupid: but yesterday (Friday) I discussed with my brother (who bought an i20 (1st gen) in 2012 Feb) and he convinced me to cancel the Swift and pick up the i20 Elite.
Initially I too was inclined towards i20 but the price offered for our Indigo and also the price diff of ~60K between Swift ZDI and i20 Asta had tilted my decision towards Swift.

Today I went to Maruti Dealer to cancel the booking, but the SR was on leave today and tomorrow is Sunday.
I will meet the SR on Monday and cancel the booking of Swift.

Also I will book the i20 on Monday or Tuesday. The SR assured me that if I book it by Monday he will try to get the car by 15 Jan 2015.
And he said there are no discounts on i20 since its having waiting period (I enquired at Garve Hyundai, Pune over phone about discounts and delivery period- to which they told No Discounts despite Dec. and Delivery Period 1 month).

I will try to sell the Indigo outside (if possible to fetch better value).

Anyone negotiated a deal on the Jag XJ recently? I believe dealers are stuck with the older CBU units which are now going at a pretty big discount

any information on offers and discounts on BMW 3 series GT will be a help.

Received an email from Fiat-India yesterday, benefits upto Rs 2L is being offered on new Linea & Rs 65K on Evo.
Their website however is showing offer of Rs 1L & 30K on Linea and Evo respectively.

Approx 4 lakhs off on ex-showroom price. Def could haggle for a lakh or two more on the OTR

Select variants of the pre-facelift Linea sedan are available at discounts as high as 2 lakh rupees while the facelifted Linea also is selling at a considerable 1.5 lakh rupee discount.

The recently launched Punto EVO is available at a 65,000 rupee discount.

I feel like banging my head. Had been eyeing Ford Fiesta for a long time. They even had a good 40k discount that brought the Titanium model under 11 lakh! But just as the time for me to buy the car came closer (this week), I got the shock of my life. The offer is discontinued. Not only that, the car prices have been increased as well. Argh. Definitely not buying it now.

I am looking for a C2 segment car. Honda city(iVTEC) and VW Vento(TSI/TDI) are on the shortlist. I checked with whitefield honda and Apple VW. Both the dealerships said there are no year end discounts. VW is offering some discount on the 1.6 Vento, but I am not interested in it.
Anyone on this forum know, if there are any discounts on these models?

Audi Bangalore told me this discount offer is not applicable to South India. They claimed it is valid in North India.

That should be a brilliant decision, I would say. I was also very impressed with Elite i20 except the exorbitant pricing of the top end diesel variant. But in one way, you pay for the premium feel and the snob value in it. In terms of built quality and overall, the Elite i20 should be better than swift anyday.

OT- When i read your signature, I was likerl:
This really shows the kind of frustration, a Tata car owner develops over the period of ownership. Anyways at least in Bangalore it isn't that bad. I personally feel, Tata is capable of producing good cars, no doubt in that. But they must work very hard to sell their products well, make a market presence by inducing the masses to buy Tata Cars. This is not simple and can be achieved only through the best A.S.S. By and large, many new/used car buyers stay away from Tata Cars for whatever reasons they may have. Also resale value seems to very bad for the Tata Cars. I hope at least Zest and Bolt will come out this vicious and notional image.

In Hyderabad, Volvo cars are offering 4 years free insurance and free maintainance upto 80,000 kms or 4 years(Whichever comes first). Extended warranty is for 5 years and 1,50,000 kms.

Any on going offers on the XUV 5OO? My friend is planning to buy one and would like to know the available deals before approaching any dealer for discounts
