I had a crazy story with one of the Ford dealers in Chennai
1-12 Sep: 2 dealers offered competing prices. I went with the one who was consistent in follow-ups and provided good service even though the other provided slightly lesser price.
13-Sep: Booked a Ford Aspire Petrol Titanium for 6.67L On-road with extended warranty and reverse parking sensors. Was promised delivery by 20-Sep.
18-Sep: Supposed to be a PDI, but not getting even the vehicle status.
19-25 Sep: No update. Escalated to Ford India. No update still. Finally came to know that delivery would be significantly delayed and I could obtain a refund of the booking amount.
26-Sep: Contacted the other dealer once again. As usual, they were not prompt with follow-ups.
6-Oct: Other dealer called me, this time quoted a price of 23K higher than last time - 6.90L.
He cites (1) Reduction of discounts from 30k last month to 20k this month and (2) Hike of factory price by 13K this month, as the reasons.

I now lost the idea of going for a new car.

Meanwhile, after seeing this AD, I'm wondering why he said the discounts have been reduced. Clearly, the AD says 30K discounts against Aspire. And he called me on 06-Oct, the same day as start of the promo.

Any suggestions guys, on how to approach it? (Other than to cough up the extra 23K)

Well it depends. I was able to get quotes from some insurance providers which was cheaper than Maruti Insurance, but most others were either almost same or even more expensive.

How can the RM at MS force you to buy accessories if you don't want to pay for them? Utter nonsense.
Well that's my bone of contention with him. I am about to tell him that I will take up the issue with Maruti if I'm forced to go with the standard accessories package.

So did you finally buy the Dzire?
Yes . And if all goes well, I'll be taking delivery this Saturday.

Get a friend to call both dealers mentioning they saw the ad and want to know the final OTR price. If either dealer's price is lower than what was quoted to you, you can tell the dealer that you'll close the deal at that price.

The Aspire isn't doing great nos. so the dealers would be keen to close the deal.

You could also tweet to Ford India about the issue and they might provide assistance.

Hi Guys,

Any idea on the discounts on the BMW 320 right now in Kerala? Looking for the prestige version.

Definitely no, in fact you might be waiting anywhere between 8-12 weeks before actual delivery, since alpha CVT is a slow seller according to my nexa dealer, would advice you to set a conversation with more than one dealer to get the car quickly, since no one is offering a discount.
Also, please stay away from the essential kit, Maruti's way of looting.
Looking forward to a great ownership for you.

Toyota run discounts and promotions on Etios range around the year since they do not sell much. You should be able to get discounts at this time of the year for sure. I received an email from them that they are having some good benefits on Etios. So you can negotiate with them and get good discounts.

re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

Have been talking to various MS dealers in Bangalore for new Dzire Zxi + AGS but none of they are budging an inch from the OTR. But they are ready to offer discounts on accessories.

There is a difference of up to 4k in the OTR from dealer to dealer which they claim is due to insurance.

They are also insisting that i should take insurance from them. OTR quoted for 10.06 to 10.10L. Some of them have even offered to deliver the car in 3 days once the bank formalities are completed.

In terms of build and also drivability which one is better dzire zxi +AGS or baleno alpha CVT?

Hi,

Please find an advertisement from a BMW dealer in Mumbai. It will help you negotiate for the same.

Their accessories are overpriced. Explore Amazon or Flipkart, you would be able to get them cheaper there. I suggest don't take the "Standard Accessories" package from them.

Regarding insurance, the dealer would have tie ups with 3-4 insurance companies and the premiums of each of these companies would be different. They cannot force you to take insurance from them, it is entirely up to you. When you interact with them next, insist on speaking to the guy who specifically handles insurance (they have an entire department dedicated to that). I took delivery of my Baleno Alpha CVT today and I was able to negotiate a lower premium on insurance from the dealer himself (Rs.4800 less than what they mentioned in their price list). They typically mention the highest premium on their price list (higher the premium, better the commission for the RM).

Pay attention to the IDV value that is insured, i.e. how much money you will get in case of total damage. The premium varies depending on that.

re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

I am planning to buy a Ciaz Alpha Petrol AMT. The max discount i got is Rs. 25,000 (Which includes a corporate discount of 10K). Is this the best i can get?

Price Breakdown

Ex. Showroom Cost: 10,87,297
Road Tax(14%) : 1,52,230
Insurance: 33,552
Registration Fees: 1235
Number Plate: 635
Extended Warranty: 15504

The discount offered in on Ex-Showroom price. The dealer says this would reduce the Insurance Amount but not the Extended Warranty Cost. Is that correct?

Earlier this year, when my brother and I were exploring new car buying options, we visited Ford, Hyundai & Toyota dealers.
After test drives when we sat down for various pricing information, each dealer insisted that we take insurance and / or bank loan from them. Their reason - smoother resolutions of insurance problems which may arise in case of accidents.
Since we have preferred accounts with HDFC bank, we had already discussed car loans with the bank. Insurance we would have taken from our known insurance agent.

Upon mentioning this to each dealer, they told us that we should come back to the dealer with the insurance quotes and bank loan quotes and they would match it or give us accessories in lieu of the price difference. It is another thing that for various reasons, our car purchase has been postponed.

I would suggest that you get your own bank loan & insurance quotes from your preferred finance provider and go back to these dealers, I am sure they would rather match those quotes than lose a sale.

However being Maruti, with sales blazing month on month, I think I am being overly optimistic about dealer agreeing to this.

With dzire blazing the sales chart, some of the the dealers are like: "take it or leave it, we will get more customers for this car".

The price quoted for my punto evo was also varying anywhere from 2.1L to 2.3L with different maruti dealers. They were ready to give some exchange bonus if I give the car to them. But I found a buyer for 3.5L and now the dealer say no exchange bonus.

I'm sorry but am I missing anything? I'm unable to understand your question. If you're not giving the car to the dealer, how could you expect him to give the exchange bonus?

Regarding the price difference, this is pretty common for used-car market duds. Its always advisable to sell directly to the buyer. A couple of years back, when I was buying a new car, we were offered 2.2L max for our Beat. Finally within a week we sold it directly for 3.3L
