Re: Vahan & Sarathi - Software used by all RTO's

This is excellent. I checked registration of my car and its coming up correctly. Howerver could not find details of my bike.
Shared the link with few of my friends who either had sold off their car or plan to purchase a pre-owned car. Still getting thanks for them for the link. So passing all those thanks to this forum

Security certificate issue of the site really sucks. NIC should really do something about it. Dont think it will be that difficult for them to deal with this issue.

Re: Vahan & Sarathi - Software used by all RTO's

Here's an interesting anecdote:

I left my RC card at home, and just carried a printout of the Vaahan webpage with my car's registration details.

Got stopped by a policeman at the Goa/Karnataka border crossing, was asked for the car's RC book, insurance, PUC etc. Told the policeman that I left the RC book (smart card) at home but I have proof of registration in the form of this Vaahan printout. All my other papers except for the RC book were in perfect order.

The policeman just waved me on without any questions or any issues - in essence, he accepted the Vaahan printout as proof of the vehicle's registration.

Wonder if this will work in other states too.

The policeman made a mistake. You could be carrying an old printout. Also by law the printout from the Vahan website has no meaning. It's the RC book which you are supposed to carry (or its xerox).

Re: Vahan & Sarathi - Software used by all RTO's

I can find the details of my KL Registered car. All is good
I could even get the KA registered car details. Super!

However, could not get the License details. I can get it through the Kerala MVD Site though. There should have been a guideline for entering the License number. My license is a pre-digital, book type and the number is E/2XXX/94. E is for Ernakulam RTO, 2XXX for license number and 94 for year. In Kerala MVD site, I had to enter 7/2XXX/1994. (7 for the RTO district number) Now, I am not sure how to enter in the national database search. Tried different combinations but no luck :(

Also, in the Kerala MVD Site, one need to enter the DOB to get the DL details. (Just like the chassis no for Vehicle). I think this is necessary for privacy reasons. What do you guys think?

Regards,
Bejoy

Re: Vahan & Sarathi - Software used by all RTO's

This website is very helpful.

I sold my car through a personal ad and trusted the buyer to do the transfer. He did it and I was able to confirm within a day with the help of this website. It clearly showed two entries confirming that it has successfully registered the second owner. Kudos.

Excellent websites, not regularly updated I guess. I'm wondering why I never heard of these before.

Re: Vahan & Sarathi - Software used by all RTO's

This is an excellent find MoralFibre! Thank you!

However, I personally didn't find details of my 2 vehicles registered with AP28 passing on these websites whereas I was able to find the details for my MH12 registered motorcycle.

Interestingly the vehicle information is readily available on the Andhra Pradesh's RTO website!

Am I doing something wrong here or is Andhra Pradesh still in the process of migrating their local database to these NIC maintained integrated sites?

You might not be doing anything wrong. It could just be that their local databases have not been merged / centralized. How old are your AP registered vehicles?

Re: Vahan & Sarathi - Software used by all RTO's

Vehicle Search not working on the Vahan.nic.in website. Been trying since the past 24 hours.

Here's the error message:

"This facility is temporary withdrawn.
Please wait for some time."

Anyone else having the same problem or is it just me?

I can confirm this error message too. Actually I have been on this site for about 2 month now because I had some discrepancies in my new RC Card which I gave the dealer's RTO guys for correction. All was working till about a month a ago. But then suddenly, this started popping up.

Anyone know of any alternatives at all?
