Definitely a Good looker (as all safaris have been) but still one can recognize that its a Safari unlike what Tata had done to the Grande.
I will miss the rear wheel & a new still more powerful engine

From the exterior the New Safari looks like a mere face lift. Hardly will 'storme' the market.
Is this based on the Aria platform?

All the earlier design characteristics like the rear design not gelling with the front or the vehicle being too narrow for its height have been carried forward. Hope it is not the same lumbering giant that it was earlier

Guys, I also managed a ticket for 7th Jan. Hopefully there should not be much chaos at the BMS outlets. Excited to see some good launches and specially the mini SUV category.

All in all, this car has a certain purity in looks that the XUV still cant match. At times, simplicity is the best design, and the Safari exemplifies this always.
Did you see the video of the turning radius? They practiced it a lot going by the number of tread marks on the road

For me the Safari Storm(e) looks a lot like the present Sumo. Have to see it in person to comment more.

Re: The Mega Auto Expo 2012 Thread : General Discussion, Live Feed & Pics

5.4 m is not bad at all. Though ground clearance has reduced a tad to 200 mm now (from the original 205). Can someone confirm whether front facing 3rd row (even if optional/on order) is there?

My impression on the looks has not changed. It looks like any other 3-box (with "box"y being the operative term) SUV now. The "character" is just not coming through.

The "side bulges" at the back that was mystifying many on close up seems to be scoops for airflow into the rear cabin compartment. I feel a butterfly glass option would have been so much better.

As per their press report turning radius is 5.4m.

Practicing or they were re-taking the shots? Somehow I am unable to digest it looks. Will check it if it is available in the showroom this weekend.

IMO, the current gen Safari had one best thing "Looks", But this new gen looses that tooo :( . Cant believe that the TML took such a longtime to churn this out.

Re: The Mega Auto Expo 2012 Thread : General Discussion, Live Feed & Pics

From the picture and what I can make out of the video the problem of wide and uneven panel gaps in the old Safari seems to have been addressed.
