Re: The Mega Auto Expo 2012 Thread : General Discussion, Live Feed & Pics

This is an awesome step GTO. Heartfelt thanks to you and fellow moderators to create a separate section for this special event. Like many unfortunate souls on this forum, I too will not be able to make it to ND for this event. But I'm sure this section is gonna make me feel as if I was there.

The list of prospective launches and even probable showcasing is mouth-watering. Let the pics do the talking.

Have a safe flight and do us all proud at the Auto Expo 2012.

This is a really good initiative GTO! Although many of us might not be visiting the Expo up in Delhi, I'm glad that we won't be missing anything (That list of cars is really big!). Looking forward to your trip and hope you guys really enjoy!

I know most of the TV shows would also be covering the Expo, but there's nothing like T-BHP's detailed reviews and explanations through those mouth-watering pics, which cannot be covered by 20-minute TV shows.

AFAIK Mitsubishi has pulled out of the show ans so has Fiat India. However the new launches from Mitsubishi are supposed to be on schedule.

Re: The Mega Auto Expo 2012 Thread : General Discussion, Live Feed & Pics

Thanks for the support, guys!

Now, let's start discussing the cars please. Here's a Q to start off : Will the Ertiga create an all-new segment? 7 seater, Maruti reliability and that sweet 1.3L diesel engine?

I'm most excited about:

• Audi A3
• Bajaj RE60
• BMW Mini. Brand & Car launch
• Chevrolet MPV
• Chevrolet Sail Hatchback
• Chevrolet Sail Sedan
• Dilip Chhabria Super Car
• Ford EcoSport
• Honda Civic (Next-Gen)??
• Hyundai MPV Concept
• Hyundai Sonata (Next gen)
• Mahindra Reva (Next-Gen)
• Maruti <800cc Tall Boy Hatchbacks (from Japan)
• Maruti Ertiga
• Maruti K14 (1.4 Liter) petrol engine
• Maruti Swift Dzire – Next gen?
• Nissan NV200 Mini Van
• Piaggio – Vespa Launch
• Renault Duster
• Suzuki Hayabusa (bit by the superbike bug of late )
• Tata Safari 2012 (Merlin)
• Toyota Camry (Next-Gen)??

Which cars are you really kicked about?

Yes, it will. a reliable Maruti for 7-8 lacs with good and pleasant interiors. What more do you want? I think junta will treat it as a small Innova (and we know how successful that is)

It would be seriously helpful if we can additionally request for due coverage of proposed date / timelines for the respective launches as well as price points for those of us who may not be able to make it for the event.

Many thanks for starting the thread - really looking forward to the dope once the Expo starts!

I think the K14 engine from msuzuki would be worth looking out for. Hope they dont keep it up their sleeve just like they kept the baleno during their initial years.

Other cars worth watching out for would be the Ford ecosport, the Scout and the compact suv from Hyundai. This really is going to be the next big segment in india. Unless they screw up the pricing during the launch like what ford did with the fusion when the market was not even ready for such a thing.

I definitely think so. I had this discussion started last year (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...rket-mpvs.html) – on why compact MPVs are not getting launched in our market. And now the good old Suzuki is taking the lead. Who knows, maybe by 2013, we will have cars like Honda Stream, VW Touran, Toyota Wish etc. on our roads

I will try to provide some launch pics (and some creative insights on the project if allowed!) later in the night tomorrow.

Ertiga:
Definitely yes! Ertiga will be a game-changer for that segment and backed by Maruti's excellent service it should definitely be a value for money.

Swift Dzire:
I'm also looking forward at the new Swift Dzire. Hope they don't just do the same thing that was done with the previous one. Slap on a boot to the Swift and ad a strip of chrome grill in the front.

Piaggio Vespa:
Really liked this classic-styled scooter - looks cool. I read somewhere that it will be a single-seater, please correct me if i'm wrong guys.

Hybrids:
I'm also interested to know what's more on offer in terms of alternate fuels for vehicles moving forward as the fossil fuel's going down and the gas prices going up! Hope there are more vehicles and better use of technology. Still early days though..
