I am very keen on the mini SUV's and their pricing. How many of these are being launched at the EXPO? I know of Ecosport and duster.... Are there more? (And No, I am not keen on Rio)

Ah! I am just praying that one of them will give a mini SUV with 4WD & low ratio, and change the offroad scene in India.

Now, let's start discussing the cars please. Here's a Q to start off : Will the Ertiga create an all-new segment? 7 seater, Maruti reliability and that sweet 1.3L diesel engine?
The Ertiga, if priced right is sure to create an all-new segment. It is compact yet spacious (if the spy pics are anything to go with), the perfect family car for a city dweller like me.

But a teaser email I got from MSIL today morning has got me all excited - SUV XAlpha. From the way it has been mentioned, looks like its production ready and ready to hit the market. Assuming it has the necessary ingredients (read diesel+power+affordable price+decent comforts), then MSIL has a winner with a real head start in the new compact SUV segment.

The pic i got via email enclosed.

See what one 650 ride does for you!

Actually cover the bikes which a car person will be interested in. The 250s, Katoom. And the Triumphs (if these are there.)

Also, for cars as much of the technology as possible. Implementation. Production.
Can you get the engineers of one group to (off the record) critique other products. Or let them explain the rationale for their design choices. (eg, would like to about MMs 6 speed box, Fords sealed for life dual clutch, Haldex etc)

Regards
Sutripta

PS. Everything about the EcoBoost engine. Oil lubricated belt? Variable displacement oil pump. Is cooling reverse flow? Weight of engine. Sp Fuel consumption. Emissions. RPM limit. .....

GTO and team, Thank you for the effort you guys are taking to bring the Auto Expo 2012 to folks like me who can not be there in person. Looking forward to top-notch coverage.

Besides the multiple compact SUV's, it will be interesting to see if Tatas have some concrete plans for the Pixel. IMHO, Nano in its current avatar looks ugly. That would definitely be one of the reasons, the sales are so lukewarm. The Pixel on the other hand is really cute and does not look cheap. It can sell purely based on its cuteness.

I'm exited about following cars.
• Ford EcoSport - Specs. and Price
• Renault Duster - Specs. and Price
• Maruti K14 (1.4 Liter) petrol engine - Full Specs, I think this will make its way to the new full size DZire based on all new Swift.
• Maruti Suzuki SUV Concept - Will it be SX4 or will it be something based on Ignis?

• Tata Manza sub-4 meter version?
• Hyundai Compact SUV Concept - I hope its not Kia Soul!

Any news on Tata Nano Diesel?

Anybody got extra passes for the 6th? Its really important. Our college has set up a stall and hasn't managed to procure enough passes,so if anybody willing to do a little favor for a fellow BHP-ian will be highly appreciated.

Re: The Mega Auto Expo 2012 Thread : General Discussion, Live Feed & Pics

I'm surprised not many have mentioned Peugeot.

It will be very interesting to see their plan for India over the next decade. The 207 and 508 are great cars, and hopefully should add flavour to the growing list of cars available today. French flair seems to be catching on, with the Fluence received rather well, despite the lack-luster Renault dealerships and service-back-up.

I'm very keen on Peugeot's re-entry into our market. What are their strategies and plans for India?

I'm closely following the new-segment starters too. The Duster, the Ertiga, etc would be great cars to check out.

Someone in the Mahindra XUV thread was looking to give away some passes as he is unavailable for the Expo. Do get in touch with him quick.
