No, LandRover has its own 2.2 Ltr Diesel which is already doing duty in the Freelander and the recently launched Evoque in India and other models internationally. This setup is already being sold in the UK. Here is the link to the AutoCar UK website with details on the car: Land Rover Defender 90 2.2D review - Autocar.co.uk

The output seems to be 120 HP, 20 less than the one in Safari. For an out and out off roader that should be enough with higher torque of 360 NM, 40 more than the safari.

The link does not show the new Sonata. There is the option but it takes you to the old Sonata page only. May be they are still updating it.

But If they launch it only in Petrol engines I don't see how they will sell it. Honda, Toyota, Skoda and VW do demand a little more premium then Hyundai. A diesel heart would surely help change that equation. Will this go the Kizashi way?

The Hyundai concept SUV (MPV?) looks more presentable. No info on specs etc.:
Hexaspace Hyundai Concept SUV

Looks better than the Maruti XA-Alpha!

It is showing the new Sonata on clicking the link but other links like Specs, Features etc. are not working. Might be they we were updating the page when you clicked.

Looks good apart from the loud red logo.

Great specs, but i SO wish they'd done a black/red/royal blue Indica, with the decals.
Silver is JUST not hiding the unmistakable shape of an Indica, especially the hatch.

Indian buyers in this segment want only diesel. It is evident from the sales of Accord and Camry. Sonata is a worthy competitor for these two, but will meet the same fate as these two, without a diesel option.

Indian market deserves a diesel option along with petrol. I am sure most of the buyers in this segment will go for diesel even if the petrol variant is priced 2L cheaper.

Landrover's and Jaguar's doesnt have its own 2.2 lt diesel as far as my knowledge goes infact it is sourced from Peugeot

In contrast, the new 188bhp 2.2-litre turbodiesel, known as the 2.2 i4D, we drove is all practicality. The first four-cylinder Jaguar since the much criticised X-type, this Peugeot-based motor is the same as the one used by the Land Rover Freelander.
here's the link for that and i had read it somewhere else to but not able to find the link
