Isnt it same as "Sedici" which FIAT sells? SX4/Sedici was anyways a joint product of FIAT and Suzuki. I guess it was always a hatchback, but Maruti brought it as sedan in India.

Doubtful, this version has been there for a while in international markets, and is a similar case like Honda Jazz v/s City. In markets where both hatchback and sedan are sold side by side, the former is more expensive (with the same trim and engine option).

Anyways, does a Suzuki need to look good to sell well?

Yup. You are correct. It was in fact designed by the studio of Giorgetto Giugiaro (ItalDesign IIRC).

However, the Sedici is a 4x4 mini SUV. Even the name means "sixteen" in Italian.

What's with the thick upper lip made of chrome in all the there? Some new design trend? Did not like it.

Safari with the chrome strip actually cutting into the headlamp area is the worst looking of the three.

Edit: Just saw a Yellow XUV in the post above. I have no words.
