Spotted this 208 near International Airport Mumbai yesterday morning. The car looked gorgeous and better than any other hatch on Indian roads today. What price would they launch it at...?

Thanks for the pics. That look like a 207 though. Are you sure it was the 208?

If I recollect yes it was 208. The car took right towards to Grand Maratha Sheraton near the Airport. I am sure there must be other cars around there.

Peugeot are conducting customer feedback sessions for the 508 and 207 in India. I happened to drive the 508 on the test route (mumbai-khandala-mumbai) this weekend.

Initial impressions

1) Great handling (for a FWD)
2) Smooth power delivery
3) Decent 163 bhp diesel engine
4) The auto gearbox needs to be in "s" to get decent shift times
5) The interiors feel good but they could do better with some easy to fix things like the location of the cup holders. They are right in front of the A/C vents so hot coffee is a no no. If you do place a cup in the cup holder you will not be able to see the GPS screen :(

6) The rear seats are not very comfy and needs better thigh support.
7) The front seats on the other hand are brilliant.
8) The steering wheel has too many buttons and sometimes you have to get your hands off the wheel and then back on again to honk.
9) Overtaking is easy with power available in plenty above 2000 rpm and the surge continues provided you shift at around 4000 rpm.
10) Mind you this is not "pin you in your seat" acceleration. The power delivery is very linear.
11) The doors have a proper "thud".
12) The ride quality is simply amazing. It can soak bumps very very easily and it has the typical European feel while going over rough patches.

Overall I think it will be good competition for the Accord and the Superb. I think this one EATS the Passat.

Yesterday while returning from Pune to Mumbai i spotted two peugeot cars on the Lonavala Cafe Coffe Day on the express way.
The white one was 2xx and the Black one was 3xx ( Do not remember exact numbers i saw ).

They were there only for about a minute so didnt get to take clear photos . Here is what is taken on my cell phone camera .
Later spotted the black car on the toll Naka .

THe black car was Civic size and was looking very nice.

The Cars ( Specially the white one ) looked like it was used and tested a LOT. It even had dents and scratches like a somewhat old car.

Remember reading something quite extensive in some auto mags about Peugeot's huge comeback plans for india.

I think I remember seeing the pics/videos of these cars in one of the auto programs on TV this past weekend. They said that these two are a part of PSA's plans of making a comeback in India.

As per the last information gathered, the 508 is expected to be launched with a 1.6-1.8 liter diesel (completely underpowered in my opinion). Given the size of the car, I would assume that they would price it on par with a Jetta / Accord / Laura L&K. I would for one not consider 'just' 120 +/- 5% bhp for that much money!
