The 508 interiors make it look like an AT.

Agree, it does look like a fully-loaded AT version.

it is unfortunate that its ill fated alliance with PAL created a certain negativity in the marketplace. But the Peugeot was a super success in Africa and South America and it was thought it would be a super success here too. One thing I will say it was absolutely tough and could pretty much take anything one threw at it. It would be good if they made a come back in India.
Wonderful scoop.
Shankar - you are spot on. 309 GLD was the finest cars during that time. My friend has one and struggles a lot for spares and manages with help of local mechanics. The quality of its suspension and shocks are still good. The old car is so comfortable even now.
He has reassembled the engine, wiring etc.. Surprised to see the wiring kit with fail-safe mechanism.

Welcome 207 & 508 to India. The car looks rugged. Side indicators seen under the OVRM's looks good. Will be happy if the cars are correctly priced.

Great job. Looking forward to these on Indian roads. Could Citroen try an entry too?

Excellent Scoop of excellent designs.
Don't know how but after seeing these pics I can conclude that these cars do gel well with the Indian background & seems that these are perfectly suited as per the likings of our countrymen.
C'mon Peugeot, We Indians always welcome the chane & its now your turn to show your cards now.

Back to the Peugeots.

Totally agree to that statement!

Hats off to that. Very rightly put.
Its about time we as consumers took a stand and informed decision before blindly getting into a herd mania.

Thank you for mentioning it.

Also, thank you for mentioning that you were not driving. Extremely important.

Like you said: "Back to the Puegeots" AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME !

LOVED the Hatch (207). Looks awesome. Super cool. Nice stance, especially the odd position of the ORVMs & I am not sure what they have under them (indicator or puddle lamp?)

The looks, lines, menacing grills, bold big badges. NICE !

Let's see, pricing, availability and service.

Thank you.

Re: SCOOP Pics : Peugeot (207, 508) spotted testing on the MH Expressway

Fabulous pics by all the posters. The last time they left India I read an interview in AutoIndia where the CEO Peugeot complained that it was difficult to survive in a country where more than 50% market share is held by one company. I guess they have realised its not impenetrable after all.

Is it me or they could have easily removed the badges for testing? It doesnt make any sense, all the manufacturers try to hide their vehicle identities inorder to have the surprise factor, Peugeot on the other hand seem to be enjoying the attention. Or am I wrong and ARAI tests need to have the badging?

Not sure about the ARAI regulations.
But yes Peugeot are enjoying all that attention.
and they need it too, it's not had a very reputable experience in India.
Folks the French are here!
First Renault and now Peugeot.

Re: SCOOP Pics : Peugeot (207, 508) spotted testing on the MH Expressway

Thanks everyone for the scoop pictures. I really like the steering wheel, it appears meaty and should be a joy to grip.

They have naturally camouflaged their Cars using mud, but bhpians being bhpians (don't we all carry cameras?) shoot them down however hard they to to escape.

Re: SCOOP Pics : Peugeot (207, 508) spotted testing on the MH Expressway

This 508 looks like more of a D segment car to me than a C+ segment
definitely looks awesome and big. has backlit gear knobs/ reverse parking sensors and chrome strips etc etc.....

and i could see 2 variants already in the photo where 2 508 are next to each other.

SCOOP Pics : Peugeot (207, 508) spotted testing on the MH Expressway-sbh-14.jpg

one has a projector head lamps and one doesnt. Just checkout!!

wondering that it should be priced above 15L ....... if it is below 15L OTR then it should be a steal

Re: SCOOP Pics : Peugeot (207, 508) spotted testing on the MH Expressway

What a lovely car! The one with AT must be the one with projectors. Please don't do a Fluence Peugeot! 14-15 lakhs OTR top end and it'll be a hit!

Re: SCOOP Pics : Peugeot (207, 508) spotted testing on the MH Expressway

Some fabulous pictures in this thread indeed! The 207 reminds me so much of an i20, but as was so correctly pointed out it preceded the i20 by 2 years. That's a moot point though. Price it right and Peugeot could well have a winner.

The 508 is where it's at for me though. What a great looking car! Of course, looks are subjective, but I dare say very many people will like the looks. Now whether that'll be enough to make it a hit, I have no idea. But it sure looks like it could be a success, fingers crossed!

Re: SCOOP Pics : Peugeot (207, 508) spotted testing on the MH Expressway

Going by the sheer size of the 508, it looks to be a D-Segment car. Peugeots sure are gathering all the attention they need. Now, price it right and watch the sales chart on fire.

Re: SCOOP Pics : Peugeot (207, 508) spotted testing on the MH Expressway

Thanks for the scoop, thats one beautiful car. I really hope they do well with the pricing and spec, though its tough to expect the car below 15L as they sell the same car (508) in the UK (base model ) at 18.5K (Pounds), so we are really anticipating a very high level of localization from the start to make this tick.

Best - ML
