Great Scoop mate.
Is the GPS navigation screen collapsible? It seems, its hidden in one small such adjustable doom?

The features are definately a D segment similarities. The fit and finish is also at par, in this snap.

Back in the 90's, there were 2 vehicles in the market with the name "Astra", both being marketed and sold simultaneously.

I am talking about the Opel Astra and the TVS Astra. Same name, but different type of vehicle so no overlap. Ergo, no problem!

Ditto with Bajaj Sunny and Nissan Sunny.

Maybe same case of Tata 207 and Peugeot 207?

Thanks.

Seems like it. Looks like it's foldable under the flap of the central storage space above the centre AC vents. Open it to access it seems the way to go.

Quality of the interiors, plastics and fit & finish look excellent.

This is one hatch which should command a premium, a-la Skoda Fabia when it was first introduced. Expect pricing on the lines of the old Jazz prices (7.5L or 8L onwards), since Peugeot still don't have a plant nor an assembling unit in India yet.

at the same time kinetic had a moped called safari and tatas have safari, so two vehicles in diff class can always coexist.

Thats a great scoop @RavenAvi. The feature also is amazing. Makes sense you know. This way (the collapsible GPS unit) one could get rid of thefts caused due to GPS systems. Happens a lot abroad where GPS is stuck on the windshield.

Motorbeam has reported testing of the P207 by ARAI in Pune. Here, is the link:

Peugeot 207 Being Tested By ARAI | MotorBeam - Indian Car Bike News & Reviews

Apparently they are doing the same for homologation, to which every car model has to comply to. But, with no plant in India, I fail to understand are they going the CBU/CKD, or what way, if they plan to launch he car in India in short span of time.

CBU definitely, if they plan to launch in 2012.

Add 3 years, if they want a plant in India.

But I think they will take the CBU route first, which should make their initial offerings very premium, ergo expect old Jazz/old Fabia/Fusion prices at the beginning at the very least, if not more.

Peugeot-citoen tie up will result in yet another plant to be set up in chennai. They are planning for launching their cars in india soon. The 206 is one of the best looking hatch in my opinion.

CBU might make sense for the 508, but for a family hatch CBU would simply mean that there would be no takers and the TN Govt. has yet to allocate land for the factory.

However it is already being made in Indonesia since this year, so they can take a CKD approach. Since the car in present form is longer than 4m, the best bet is to launch the 1.6 engines in top of the line trim till they set up the factory wherever they get land.

Re: SCOOP Pics : Peugeot (207, 508) spotted testing on the MH Expressway

Guys, but vehicles like Bajaj Sunny VS Nissan Sunny or Kinetic Safari VS Tata Safari had a basic differentiation, as in

- One of them has long been discontinued.
- Two wheels vs four.

While, the Tata 207 and the Peugeot 207 both are :

- 4 Wheelers
- Still in production.
- Good brand recall for the current product amongst the masses.

Thanks for the info, indivic.

CKD looks like the way to go, however I expect the price of the 207 to still be at a premium. Longer than 4m would mean attracting duty costs as well, so add that too. A 1.6 L engine would mean it will be pitted straight against the Polo 1.6, so the pricing will definitely be over 8L, initially.

Let's hope that the Chennai land allotment deal goes smoothly and quickly. I cannot wait to see the 207 on Indian roads!

Re: SCOOP Pics : Peugeot (207, 508) spotted testing on the MH Expressway

Saw a 508 this morning while driving to work. Completely dirty exteriors (due to rains and road grime) but interestingly it was sporting the temp registration number.

Looks massive!

I think I also saw the same one. Was it on the Pune-Bangalore highway? I caught it between Baner and Hinjewadi
