Strange? Why? India is becoming a favourite hub for exports! Look at Renault-Nissan , Hyundai etc exporting models from India. Ford could be export these 2.0 variants to some markets. Or they could be here just for testing. This is a brilliant country with wide geographical & climatic variations. (Our mod Suhaas had posted on similar lines why India is a good place for testing).

Looks like the promotional video that they might have aired to the public at the EcoSport launch event. Thanks for sharing!

Lower prices of raw-material and cheaper production costs come to mind.

Spoke to Cauvery Ford yesterday. They confirmed that its launching only by early June, and even today's ET says the launch window is April - June. At this speed, the XA Alpha could come earlier than the Ecosport!

Even TVS has launched their Ecothrust engine on their Phoenix launched recently

Where is Ford??

True, there is no concrete idea about launch date. We need a car desperately and now i am even starting to think of the alternatives to the EcoSport.

By the way, how does the EcoThrust on TVS have any thing to do with the EcoBoost.

Nothing, except the 'Eco' part of the name. The similarities end there

I'm sure he meant so many other similar sounding techs n products launched before Ford EcoSport, and that it's terribly delayed. Bhavnaaon ko samjho

Re: Ford ecosport spotted !!!

Bang on! The vehicle has temporary registration plates.

Seems it should be out soon in the market.

Has Ford come up with an official launch schedule?

Cheers,
Tapish

Ford says it going to be launched in the mid of 2013.

Hope they launch it soon cause the Duster from Renault has eaten up that segment of the market single handedly.

Saw this car in the Trichy - Chennai highway.

If they've found out something from the ongoing road tests that needs to be corrected, it is better for the customers that they correct it before the launch.

I would rather take a better car six months later than one with glitches now.

One can only infer from the delay in launch that Ford are trying to localise heavily. That is not such a bad thing as it will definitely help them price it smartly. Especially after the Fiesta flopped due to its nonsensical pricing. They do not want to go down that road again...

Looks like localisation is the issue here. However, this delay will surely cost Ford some customers, including me

Re: Ford EcoSport Preview @ Auto Expo 2012. EDIT : Indian Spy Pics on Pg. 33

The eternal delay with ecosport is making me look at other 2 options which I can buy early 2014:

1. Maruti X Alpha : Only "external look" specs are available. No talks on transmission, or SUV features like traction control, 4WD. I dont want to see another Ertiga line with very basic sedan features. I suspect reduction on standard features as this may not be a global platform. It may be limited to the features available on SWIFT platform.

2. Cheverlot Trax: Amazing SUV features from Sonic platform and good fuel efficiency : 22 to 26 kmpl on 1.7 diesel mill (that means 16 kmpl in our roads) . https://www.chevrolet.co.uk/eap/trax.pdf. Traction control, hill asist, 4 wheel ABS from Bosch, EBD are all present in both diesel and petrol variants unlike in Ecosport. The mylink is 7 inch display system which is more practical . Price can be premium lying between 10 to 15 L. Still the base variant ( manual 2WD, 16 inch, 130 hp) will be better than a fully loaded Ecoposport (16inch, 12 L +) when you compare the warranty, space, features, and the real view visibilty offered. Its already on market in UK now, can bring to India faster.

This may be offtopic, but I wanted to highlight the options customers may have in the coming days ..

Hg..
