Re: Ford EcoSport Preview @ Auto Expo 2012. EDIT : Indian Spy Pics on Pg. 33

I have own ford fusion for 5 yrs(85k kms), and the routine engine maintainance and service is at par with competition. get any small dent, bumper broken or any repair specific to fusion, you will repent buying ford. for a perspective routine service never went beyond 7k but when the front bumper was little injured they quoted humble 20 k for that piece of plastic. for comparision ford endevour front bumper cost less than 10k. accidental and any repairs specific to fusion are astronomically stratosphically expensive. each steel wheel rim which used to cost 1k one year back, cost more than 3k now. even though the car is still rattle free and in good condition but the ford is hell bent make me realise that it was blunder to go with them. fusion or ecosport or figo, TRED AHEAD CAUTIOUSLY.

Well said. Same experience here. I have the same car for 7 years now (95K).
Near rattle free. Regular maintenance is fine and within limits. If you go off the trail you spend a bomb, But over all nice experience. It has been a pleasure to drive a Ford.

I expect a similar story with Ecosport too. Electronics would be definitely pricey.
But this time on the petrol engine, maintenance costs are unknown , owing it to be a new engine.

Ecosport rides on 16" wheels. That's as big as it can possibly get within this cost & size of car!

Its great to hear the news that Ford Ecosport would under cut Renault Duster in pricing. The feature lists also seems to be promising.
Has anyone got any info regarding when ford's little baby SUV is going to hit Indian roads ?

I own a Fiesta diesel which has done closer to 60k in 14 months. Stories floating around indicate heavy maintenance on owning a ford after 50k kms. So bit confused whether to retain it, till it does 1-1.2 L kms or sell it now. Any idea on how the car will fare, assuming regular maintenance done without any compromise, on longer term.

My Fiesta has done 95K in 6 years and 5 months. For 100k service I have changed all the belts including pulley, Foundation rubbers,...even though they had 20-30% life. The service cost was around 20k.

My Suspension, Clutch had no issues till now.

I do feel spare parts have reduced a lot.

Forgot to mention mine is Diesel.

Situation has definitely improved for Ford. Its not that bleak I would say. My Fusion has done close to 95K. At 60K there was some amount
which has to be paid. But that is fine I guess.

Re: Ford EcoSport Preview @ Auto Expo 2012. EDIT : Indian Spy Pics on Pg. 33

So heightwise both the Duster & Ecosport are almost identical. However Duster, it seems, is 57mm wider than the Ecosport & where it trumps the Ecosport is the wheelbase, a whopping 152mm greater, resulting in better legroom for rear seats & bigger boot. However Ecosport being under the all important 4m mark would have the obvious advantage of lower excise duty. This is the distinct advantage for Ecosport & should help Ford price it quite aggressively compared to the Duster.

One thing not mentioned above is the ground clearance. Duster at 205mm sits only 5mm higher than the Ecosport, which is at 200mm. This should be sufficient given its shorter wheelbase.

Note: Fiesta wheelbase is 2489mm, so Ecosport has a 32mm advantage. Also Ecosport having 3 position reclining back seats, the rear seats in the Ecosport can be expected to be roomier & spacious compared to the Fiesta.

^Longer wheelbase = plusher ride quality, apart from the leg room per se.

Not really, ride quality depends on a number of factors and a longer wheelbase is just one small piece of the puzzle.

Re: Ford EcoSport Preview @ Auto Expo 2012. EDIT : Indian Spy Pics on Pg. 33

I am no more concerned about Ford service and spares pricing after first hand experience with My Fiesta D for last 2.5 Yrs. The last 40K service I paid Close to 7K. I have driven in all sort terrains and the Build is still solid.

Ecosport fits perfectly in the requirement. After the current Fuel pricing scenario and pricing, I am more keen on 1 Ltr Ecoboost as I will be retaining Fiesta. Excise and new taxes on Diesel vehicle will further push the 1.5 D version across roof and will further affect the P vs D calculation.

The one I am keen on is the Powershift variant with all safety features which the Preview page mentions on website. I hope Ford launches it with ESP / TCS, Hill hold and Powershift in 1 Ltr Ecoboost.

Bring it on Ford.

So lets cut the chatter now. WHEN is this thing being launched anyway? Any definitive dates out?

Ah, well, @Redliner, anything that any one other than Ford says is clutter .. So let's not ask amongst ourselves, but instead wait for a launch date. What say ?

not an exact date but definitely Q1 2013. Ecosport is currently undergoing the standard ARAI testing. IF you notice the trend, it has taken 4-6 months between ARAI Testing and LAunch date on an average.
