In Mexico Ford is offering 2 variants of Ecosport with following specifications. Both the variants are just loaded with top class features.

I am sure in India we can expect same features which will make Ecosport stand out from every other car in its segment. India market is largely about VFM and Ecosport with a right price tag has everything in it to make a KILLER!

In Mexico, Ecosport is sold at following on-road price:
Ecosport SE: $280,100 pesos (INR 11,96,646)
Ecosport Titanium: $324,600 pesos (INR 13,86,759)

It seems the cheapest Ecosport will be available in India market

I visited Talera Ford at Viman Nagar, Pune yesterday. The sales manager hinted a price of 8L on road for the 1L EcoBoost version. Display cars will come to some showrooms in March 2nd-3rd week. They have stopped taking bookings but mentioned that the delivery of vehicles will start in April.
I was however appalled to see the lack of knowledge about the specs of the car from a senior sales manager. He promised to have some more info by next month.
The insides of the new Fiesta seem to be Ctrl-C + Ctrl-V onto the EcoSport.

What happens to those who want to go book the day its officially launched? Will the dealers turn these people away and say that no more bookings since they already have sufficient?

Sadly, these voice based features are seldom of use in India, thanks to our usage of English by mixing it with the local vernacular. Besides, the accent used is simply unintelligibile to most people.

It would be good for Ford if they concentrate on other strengths of the ecosport rather than touting these features which end up being just gimmickry. The success of a no frills vehicle like Duster should have made them wiser by now.

This is strictly my personal opinion, based on frustating experiences with such softwares present in Android et al.

Absolutely! But if you look at the checklist of strengths that the typical Indian customer looks at, the list is fairly standard and short!

So i agree that Ford should stress on these but given that most vehicles these days are within a hairs breadth of each other on these parameters, it does make sense to highlight the new (lifestyle?) features. And i think the time will come when these features will become the norm. Look at how much people loved the BT integration on the figo. I'm sure it will force the manufacturers to "indianize", for the lack of a better word, these features if there is evidence of these being really adopted and loved by the customers.

I think having variants should take care of these issues. Don't want it, don't buy it should be a nice option.

Something regarding the ecoboost engine performance. Yesterday's episode of fifth gear (Discovery Turbo channel) they had the team test of the new focus. The presenters did 2 drag race between 1.0 ecoboost and 1.6 petrol versions, and the ecoboost easily won both times. Infact the 1.6 was given a head start the second time, but still could not win.

Err - the Emotion Pack Linea already does all that - since 2009. If I am not mistaken, both Ford as well as Fiat use the same Microsoft technology.
