Will Aria and Strome share the same production line?
When X+Y increases, it actually does not matter whether X > Y or Y> X as long as X or Y does not go lower than a set minimum.

Some points

I finally got time to get done with the photos.
My views
As far as looks go, the front end looks neater, but then it also robs the safari of some character
Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012-dsc3748lrl.jpg
The mode button suggest cruise control/and or a trip computer. Headlight switch becomes rotary

Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012-dsc3750lrl.jpg

The engine bay is still scary. Lots of bits and pieces there which will get loose, and cause trouble.
Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012-dsc3752lrl.jpg
The engine bay light on the hood is also gone. I don't know why

Good news, no brake booster hanging low. Underbody neater and now looks "better". Not that earlier skid plates were inadequate... but this looks better
Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012-dsc3754lrl.jpg

The panel gaps are still uneven.
Projector lights look nice. Safari had 4 bulbs for headlights, which became 2 with the 3.0. Now we are back to 4 bulbs.

Timeframes are flying around
April launch.... May launch.... June launch.....
Nobody knows. I don't know what Tata is doing, but I sincerely hope they are working on quality.

You make a valid point but isn't it better for TATA to have two successful models instead of one cannibalising the other??
Also,TATA has to make Aria work at some point of time!!Else they will end up like Maruti(KIZASHI,VITARA) and Hyundai(SONATA),they cant sell a car for more than 10 Lakhs!!If Safari prices encroach into Aria territory,it will all but kill the product(ARIA)

Hi tsk, thanks for posting these pictures.
Are these skid plates made out of plastic? Is it the same material in your Dicor 2.2.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

the skid plates seem to be metal coated with something. But I can't be certain. Going by past record, Tata gives metal plates

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Basically Tata felt that the vehicle was ready for launch, but the XUV has definitely pulled the rug from under them, when it comes to features/price. So, I guess Tata is now delaying to either 1) improve the product or 2) for the XUV mania to die down.

Given that they have production spec vehicles, ready, I cannot think of any reason to further delay the product.

Why do I feel that I am looking at an elongated Grande, the older Safari looks better and probably with a quality improvement & a radicle facelift it would have got a fresh lease of life.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Hoping Tata's learnt their lesson with the Aria. The strategy should be base models + introductory pricing rather than top end 4x4 variants at wishful prices. Its better to start of with a positive reaction from the market rather than the whimper the Aria created.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Saw a Safari Storm Vx heading towards Pune Mumbai expressway, a little after Hinjewadi. Must be a test vehicle, the driver was going extremely fast, overtaking everyone on the highway.
He was slaloming in and out of fast moving car traffic at high speed approx 80 kmph, in a manner I can never dare to in our Jan 2011 Safari. So the Aria chassis definitely seems to have improved the handling.
The back was looking clean and impressive in dual tone. I tried to keep up but it was just impossible to swerve in and out of traffic at the speeds he was doing.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Well , A prospective buyer looking out for safari/xuv /strom'e" .For me. I kinda like the looks.. its a Range Rover influence not the "defender" types .. get the pricing right TATA

I dont think I trust mahindra enough on a 140 BHP machine.. having said that and being a fiat lover .. I find the cabin noise and seating far less comfortable on the xuv than my punto. anyways.. if I can save 2-3L and hire a driver Safari it would be.. rear seat comfort no match for the xuv (in my opinion)

I am not surprised and this thing does not require changes that storm offers. I have even seen the old 3.0 Safari being driven like this, and very easily. Once I was in my Magnum accompanied by Fortuner on Kolhapur - Pune patch, Damn we couldn't catch up with 2.2 Safari ahead of us, and it was night, through heavy traffic.

Very true. Prices mentioned are for older models and not the new Strome.
Not even a slightest clue on the pricing is heard yet. Every body is tight lipped.
Seems they are still doing some testing on the model. Re checking / double checking for a complete niggle free vehicle, as the launch is getting delayed further. Not sure if its possbile in this month.
Else you can see the shipments at the dealers by now or in transit atleast.
