@Kavi, I'll agree with you to some extent. The claddings were getting boring for me. The old style has been around for too long.

But, I still think the front grille was better earlier, than what's coming now.

Ok sorry about that. Was fooling around with lots of colors. Let me know if there is anything specific you need.

Too flashy

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Inder, if I buy this new Safari, then your "all black" version would have a lot to do with it! Please continue your efforts.

Speaking of colors, it would be nice to have an SUV in matte khaki (since OG is out). Very old school and rugged. And way better than that "metrosexual" Pearl Champagne they are proposing.

Even the metallic bottle green on their Storme "concept" is nice. Wonder if they will re-think and offer that as well. Maybe instead of one of the whites (two are a serious waste).

Hi,
Wonder if the new GB can handle more power. Seems pointless otherwise.

Turning circle is normally limited by CV joints. Was this the limiting case in the old Safari? Or something else. If CV joints, can these be retrofitted on the old Safari?

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

@ Sutripta,

I do not know if the Mark II version of the G76 can handle more power. Guess thats why Tata has developed new 6 speed manual and auto trannies. As per GTO's report the 2.2 dicor in the Aria auto develops 154 bhp.

A 6-speed 154 bhp Aria should be more competitive against India's SUV favorite XUV500, especially after Aria's discounts and XUV's price hike.

The new design is even better and looks sleek and neat in side profile.
The entire set of cladding starting from front bumper to the rear wheel is too nice and blending very well and looks neat, a "no non-sense design", I would say.

Thanks again Deepak !
Prem.
You are welcome Prem!

Agree with your observations. Looks like TATA's have made good number of minor improvements to the body shell that are evident from the picture. Both bumpers are tucked in and their width is reduced, pPassenger doors are now better integrated with rear wheel arch. As you said running boards are also nicely integrated with both wheel arches and body shell.

Even the bonnet seems to blending very well with body. Only negative I can see is the trailer hook dangling down which is going to impact the angle of departure.

To me the new profile looks more masculine than the older one.

TATA's should have made this a little smaller, i feel this is a goof up they should have avoided at this stage.

But the Design is so much time proof, that they could not have had done anything about it.

An Auto-box would have made it better, the Front looks a bit Sad, can live with the rear though.

There is a HUGE technical problem in moving the fuel lid a little to the back.

You cant fit the rear jump seat inside if you do so.

Exactly, Exactly my take as well.

The Newer One when kept along side the current one looks more modern and crisper as design style as it should to keep up with the times.
