Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Is there a chance that they'll add a 3 row seating option by the time its launched? Given the XUV, and a slew of mini S/MUVs will have that, they might as well.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

I agree. By not offering it, they have tried to ensure exclusivity for those who buy the Safari. But at the cost of a much narrower customer base and hence sales. Even Scorpio, which is much smaller, somehow shoe-horned a front facing 3rd row in. Ditto for Bolero and Grande. So somehow not encroaching into Aria territory does not cut it as plausible strategic reasoning.

  • love the way the rear mudflaps and fitted; no screwing etc.
  • the new handles are a welcome change as old ones are slippery

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

I still prefer the looks of earlier Tata Safari... it had a very strong character.

I agree the new version looks more sleek and matured. But, that itself is the issue. Tata Safari fits in beautifully in that 'rough and tough' imagery but not in this 'corporate' look. As a matter of fact, I fell, now it is looking like one more variant of Tata Sumo.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

I am looking to buy a SUV which will accompany my T-Jet in my garage.. and have always been a silent admirer of the TATA Safari. For me, the new one looks sober and its growing on me fast eventhough I didnt like it initially.

One quick question..

I saw the underbody video of the new Safari Strome and was surprised to see the fuel tank (under the second row) being the lowest part of the underbody (evident atleast from the video).

Will this not affect the fuel tank when moving over bad roads and unexpected potholes..?

This pic is Awesome.

Cant agree more on the RAW and WILD looks of the Safari with ARB Bumpers and the camping gear. Saves a lot of money in finding an accomodation

And people were talking about missing the Wheel on the tail gate... Look guys TATA gave you 2 of them instead

Also you might not have to do any cutting with wider tyres as the shields dont extend upwards near the front tyres as in current safari. Also the stone guards seem to me made out of thick fibre glass and not metal.

Only in India!! Notice the gaping hole, someone swiped the cover at the Auto Expo!

Whaddya mean ONLY IN INDIA? I resent that. Look in 1-4 and you will find it. It's below the car dude. Blame it on Tata's crappy fitting (or lack of it)!

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Guys,

In the images posted by ACI, the Storme has Black+beige+silver accents interior trim. To my eyes, a black+beige trip is always better than the 'all beige' one.

Was this the final version? Is there going to be some more changes? I think an integrated music system must be coming.

This interior trim looks way better.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

@ Abhi

Agree, The black/biege combo without the fake wood definitely looked better than the all biege/fake wood theme. But from what I can gather in the posted pics the black/biege looks like the more basic variants i.e. dual airbags, audio system etc. are absent.

White is EX and the other is VX and hence I presume.

Re: Tata Safari Storme : Auto Expo 2012

Was at one of the TML service stations recently. A senior guy there said that Storme would be priced around the same band as the existing Safari and TML would continue to sell both models side-by-side for some time to come. There is no direction on phasing out the existing Safari. He personally attributed this to the fact that many people would still prefer the looks/character of the existing Safari and TML does not want to lose that customer base.

My perspective on the looks - but for the chrome strip on the bonnet and the awkward front grille, the re-design looks good. Needless to say, the spare wheel at the rear is missed too :(

Makes perfect sense. Push the current Safari back to take the Scorpio head-on or maybe even slightly less as a further incentive. Keep the Storme at the current price point (maybe the recent against-the-tide hike was with a view to that?). And let the Aria take on the XUV if it can. For most buyers, the XUV is a brand new vehicle. The Storme is not. Whichever way the sales and marketing people try to dress it.
