Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

Get ready for another car from the Maruti stables with a really long waiting period. Maruti comes out with highly fuel efficient products which masses want at affordable price points. Ertiga is not only going to create a new segment for itself but will definitely eat up a chunk of C segment car buyers as well. People who ogle at Innova but cannot afford it will have a a decent alternative at a much lower price point. I cannot see anybody coming close to Maruti in terms of Market share not in another 25 years at-least.

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

ACI review is up!

Maruti Ertiga review - Review - Autocar India

It does not look like they have actually driven it. The only new piece of information is the kerb weight, supposedly 1235kg for the diesel version and 1160kg for petrol.

The interesting part is the sliding middle row. But the backrest looks straight. Not sure how comfortable it will be for longer journeys.

the sliding middle row is one of the unique idea in this segment. they should bring this in both Estilo and Wagon R. Looking forward to the prices. do they have a model minus the 3 rd row of seats ?

The rear is strictly for kids. It would be difficult for a grown up adult to sit due to high flooring.

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

There were a lot of concerns about the Power to weight ratio, and for the Petrol it looks reasonable at 1160 Kg for 94 BHP (Jazz has 1055 Kg/ 90 BHP). Another interesting factoid in the ACI review is that ground clearance is a staggering 185 mm --Fiat has set the standard for cars in India now it seems?

Could you please elaborate how you came to this conclusion. Did you personally sit in the third row or you read in some magazine?

This month's AutoCar India magazine mentions that third row is ok for adults (not hugely spacious, but ok).

I feel many of the buyers (including me) consider third-row space as one of the deal breakers.

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

The middle row back rest is adjustable for recline. It is mentioned in the review too. So, that shouldnt be a deal breaker.

Overall looks a very promising proposition.

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

Going by the ACI review and the likely pricing, this seems to be a yummy proposition! Maruti has seemed to always have a keen eye for practicality and pricing and it would seem that they have another winner in their hands!

Now Sirish from Overdirve says, he can't reveal anything about Ertiga for the next 2 days. Though he goes on to add that there is a block buster in the making!

Those looking for rear seats in Ertiga should ask themselves this question - Who is going to use the rear seats ?

^^ The Innova also presents the same issue ; but adults happily go and sit in the rear without fuss.

Only when the vehicle is launched will the true test emerge.

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

Maruti seems to be moving in the right direction. Most Indian families are clearly looking for more than 5 seats in a car. A compact vehicle which can carry the parents, spouse and kids together will be much sought after.

Many families stayed away from the Omni mainly because of the lack safety and comfort. The Versa was too costly and the Eeco is mainly positioned for the rural market.

And so far, it looks like the Ertiga will fix all that. And the time is just about right for a people mover. Looks to be a winner.

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

I am keenly awaiting the launch.
I plan to replace my swift, I cannot opt for bigger innova due to parking constraints.
The features that suit me best are, foldable 3rd row, adjustable 2nd row.
hope they do not price it high otherwise Ertiga will end up like the SX4, expensive and tepid response from customers.
