Zigwheels sums up Ertiga after the test drive.
Quote:
A vehicle that caters to your mind and heart. It's desirable and practical, large yet feasible, fun yet frugal and for many customers out there, the bonus is that this product comes with the reliability and service back-up of MSIL. It's got all the genes to do brisk business and I would expect the Ertiga to be a common sight on Indian roads within a couple months from now

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga: First Drive - Page4 - The Economic Times
I for one would be one potential buyer for the car. I am still guessing about the price frame. Is the report in Zigwheels up.
Have the dealers started taking bookings in advance?
Off topic: I am guessing we will not be having late TBHP test drive report. I recall, we did not get a car last time for new swift launch and only few members had to donate vehicles for test drives. So I am expecting the test drive would report be late. read, will be post deliveries start.
Chanced to sit in the rear seat of in a 1st gen Swift on Sunday... right behind a tall driver 5'11"-6' & must say that I felt that it would be as comfortable in the Swift as in my Santro Zing, if not lesser (I am 5'6" only).
Maruti Suzuki need to address the same in this car. The second row without the sliding option should offer ample legroom behind a tall driver, lest the purpose of family car is defeated & the car may not be as successful in the long run.
Moreover, I would test drive the car with 5-6 more people to check the pulling power of the diesel mill & ride over bad roads, though I have no doubt that it will be much better than Xylo, Sumo Grande & Tavera. I am looking this vehicle as my family mover, hence, looking to check the vehicle through (seemingly) stupid but effective checks.
All positive reviews, and hope Maruti won't spoil the party with bad pricing.
IMO, the only sales dampener would be the name 'Ertiga'! Should have named 'Squash', IMO.stupid:

I read somewhere that the name originated from Indonesia – they conveniently reworked the name rIII into Er-Tiga (Tiga is 3 in Bahasa Indonesia/Malaysia).
Anyone has details on the interior dimensions of the Ertiga? Front/Middle/third row legroom, headroom etc? I constantly thought that this must be of comparable dimensions to the Mazda 5 MPV. But looks like the Mazda is a bigger package overall. It has the same 5 + 2 seating structure as the Ertiga, but is about 30 centimeters longer.
Guys,
We will be reviewing the Ertiga officially. However, the review will only be up in the coming week. Regret the unusual delay.

If the pricing is spot on, people will anyway need to get used to delay because of loooong queuelol:
I hope Team-bhp review covers :
1. Drivability aspects when fully loaded(7 or 5+2) and
2. The Effectiveness of the AC(like someone mentioned, Park in hot sun and test after you enjoy your meals)

GTO, it seems the t-bhpians are becoming an impatient lot :) That's what you get for being so awesome in your reviews :D

Yes, you are right. Its a play on the name of the concept, the R3. Er is R which stands for 'Row' and Tiga is 'Three' in Indonesian. Apparently, Indonesia is where the Ertiga is heading next, a big MPV market.
So, it basically means 3 rows. Not very inspiring is it? :) Maybe that's why Maruti calls it 'LUV', or Life Utility Vehicle.
Eagerly waiting for the official review.
I think people are going to like it, if it is priced sensibly. This can not be compared to Xylo or Innova. They are in a different segment. But this will be a hit.

+1. Eagerly waiting for GTO's word on these 2 aspect.
Another important factor on my list is the usability of middle row once 3rd row is completely down.
I would like to see how much of the 240mm slide room and reclining angle is compromised with the 3rd row completely down.
The fact is - people will be ready to buy it if it turns out to be a super and plush 5 seater with a versatile middle row. Occasional 7 seats will be the icing on the cake!
If it is going to be priced more than 6.5 lakhs for the diesel version it would directly be in the territory of the sumos , taveras and boleros . Dont think a lot of people would find value in the product .
