..Also considering the large green-house that the Ertiga will be known for.

The Jazz has a similar problem. The A/C doesn't feel as effective, and I'd blame the massive window-area. While the visibility is outstanding, your car would get baked if left out in the Sun for even a short period of time.

Spot on! Hypothetically, if my Ertiga was parked in the sun for an hour and I turn on the feeder unit when I start, all I'm going to get is a blast of hot air like in a furnace. I just wish to be proved wrong!

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

I think its good to have Single AC considering the engine size. With 7 adults on board will the DDIS not struggle if it has to drive 2 Aircons as well ?

To me its right move, and knowing AC's in Maruti, rest assured they have tested it well under Indian Conditions. This will ensure better power delivery with adequate aircon functionality.

Just wish them to price it correctly and not over and above SX4. To me Sx4 is over priced. Owner's excuse!

Actually I had a different experience- My Swift petrol motor that belonged to the first gen used to struggle the moment I turned on the air-con. It was so sluggish that I used the good ole' Amby's way of turning off the air-con while overtaking. But then again this could've improved with the K-series and DDiS. Only respective owners can comment.
So YES, I'm worried about the power mill too for the various effects this would bring about on the car! But the reviews are promising, so I'll reserve judgement till I see and drive it myself!

With the launch being on April11/12 any idea when the dealers would have the display in showrooms?

For those who are discussing about A/C performance - Please read the first post on this thread. It clearly states the car has Dual A/C.

I recollect reading the same in other reviews too.

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

How hard can it be and how much can it cost to just a have a dead pedal in place?? I am so completely foxed on why is it not considered as a basic necessity, at least on such vehicles that are designed to be used on the highways. Don't tell me that Ertiga is strictly a city car!

I don't know what is the big deal about the Dead pedal..

It has absolutely been of no use in my Santro in the last 6 years of ownership.

Whats been the issue? Is your car being used primarily for city commute? Or is not placed well? A dead pedal, if its just a small block jutting from the floor in far left corner, is pretty useless. In fact uncomfortable to use i may say. But its a boon on my Getz and I've been using it extensively on every drive out of the city!
I say if you can't give cruise control, at least give me a dead pedal!

Santro 8 years (97k - DEL, CHD, BLR, HYD, DEL, AMD) - God bless the inventor of the Dead Pedal

Having said that, its no deal breaker till the time there space around the clutch pedal where you can conveniently leave your foot.

Coming back to the Ertiga - fills a void, and should make Tata and Fiat think if only they were creative with the Marina, and Palio Adventure. Have seen a Volvo V70 with fold-down booster seats for the 3rd row, very practical. Ertiga will be extremely handy when there's just a couple of people to accompany the family or a larger family out on a trip.

To each his own, but I guess Maruti will lose the plot if they try to play the pseudo-VFM game of "extra seats for just a bit more". The practical flexibility is the USP of this product (besides the Maruti traits, of course). Thats where even Honda missed with the Jazz, probably - couldv'e played the Freed card.

Eagerly awaiting the last bit of details and hope to beat the rush.

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

Now I expect a shocking low pricing for the Petrol model, considering the current non-demand for Petrol models.
IMO, Petrol at 6L - 7.5L,
Diesel at 7.5L - 9L!

If SX4 prices are to be considered for base lining then i guess you are very close to what can be expected on the 12th of April 2012.

Being a Maruti and also in an unchartered area I expect Ertiga to reap rich dividends

Another review from businessline:
Business Line : Smartbuy / Automobiles : Maruti Ertiga review - Will the Ertiga move you?

Consistently good reviews. Though not a performance car, it seems to tick all the right boxes for the average buyer. I have a feeling this will blow away even XUV's bull run given than MS prices their products well.

How come we don't have an official review on the Ertiga yet?
