Its a total Mis-Conception by we consumers when it comes to Maruti cars.

1) Agreed the service network is spread across the country like no one has done.

2) Agreed that the service centres take care of the car, when the car goes in for service

BUT

Actually, a Maruti is not lighter on the purse

IT IS CERTAINLY NOT. We have 4 Maruti's in the family including the Sx4, 800's and a Zen, all the cars Age very very bad Its just will not be the same car over 50,000 kms, and no matter whatever you do, the freshness will never return back. The service intervals, the spare cost, service costs are just too high. Its a fact which many fail to understand. The only Silver-lining is they do the job. Thats it.

Let me not go further Off-Topic here. Untill i read the T-BHP Review.

The Ertiga as a Concept is a fantastic preposition, Price OTR Bangalore is reportedly goes beyond 9.50 lacs, How VFM it is only time will tell.

OK What's the alternative? Considering their sales numbers they are doing quiet well, unlike the so called 'premium' Johnny come lately's.

Given our pretty challenging road and environmental condition, I wonder how many cars will age well anyway? For a person who does normal maintenance and normal care for a car (like just regular servicing, washing, cleaning etc) and not an auto enthusiast, I would think any brand that sells in India, gives the same sort of life. So its just better to go for the cheapest and most reliable, which would be MSIL?

Woah almost 10 lakhs take home price for diesel top end. Thats way too much. Why not spend a couple of lakhs more and get an innova.

Cheers

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

^^ Exactly.

If I were looking for a large spacious hatch, I'd consider the Jazz. If I'm looking for a 7-seater MUV, I'd buy the Innova.

Maruti may seem to have dissected the segments well with the Ertiga, pricing it at 10 lakhs a pop. Right in between the Jazz and the Innova. It's no surprise really. The Swift diesel (top-end) retails at 8 lakhs or so.

Probably because if one could afford an Innova, one would have bought one already. And the Innova one would get at a couple of lakhs more would be the bottom variant.

In the Team BHP review, please also check how the rear suspension behaves with a full complement of passengers. Marutis generally bottom out pretty easily, so this might be a concern especially since this is being compared with the Innova which has a well-sorted, long-travel rear suspension.

I know some guys who have removed the middle row of the innovation and use it like a Limo :-) . A Point in case here? Weird but classy!

I still feel both the engines would be underpowered.

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

ZDI offers the following over the Vdi

Airbag(Driver+Co Passenger)
Alloy wheels(5)
Steering Mounted Audio Controls
Tweeters
Driver Seat Height Adjust
Rear Wash/Wipe/Demister
Outside Temp Guage

Price for the above is 50k. Seems its worth it. Brother booked Vdi since its readily available but I am trying to coerce him to go for the Zdi. Makes sense right?

Also:'White Color' unlike the other premium Maruti Models is non Mettalic Superior While. I was expecting the Pearl Artic White. Hope there is some price difference.

Re: Maruti Ertiga 7-Seater : Auto Expo 2012

Looks a Swift from front and a wagon R from the back. But Maruti's aggressive pricing should fetch em some customers. The DDiS is indeed a gem. Would be interesting to see how the MPV buyers respond to this.

Dont forget the additional excise (is it 8%?) more due to the engine size & length of the car beyond 4mtrs. So although we are paying more than 2L for the 2 seats, GOI is laughing away to the bank more than MSIL..
