Re: BMW (including M5 India Launch) @ Auto Expo 2012

With all the options ticked it the M5 touches 1.17cr Ex showroom. That pushed it was above the E63.

In the spec sheet I noticed that "BMW Secure advanced includes Tyres, Alloys and Hydrostatic lock" is part of standard equipment. So does that mean that the 19inch rims are replaced incase they crack? or the tyres are replaced incase they wear out?

Again, just in case someone from BMW is reading this,
WANTED a 3,with the highest engine and power configuration possible and though the auto transmission seems to be all that is offered here,a MANUAL 3 for me,please!
Expect new 3 deliveries to start around June I think. I can tell you what engines they will be bringing for sure. The 320d with 185bhp and the 328i with 240 odd bhp. Both will be with 8 speed a/t.

Re: BMW (including M5 India Launch) @ Auto Expo 2012

@Akshay1234
Just hoping that when you say 320d and 320i will be launched around June for sure, that does not preclude the possibility of a more powerful engine being offered in diesel.
Given that BMW has released both the 330d convertible(which I would buy if were not,as or more expensive than a 530d) and the 640 diesel, slotting a 3 series performance oriented sedan to make the range complete and beyond challenge from Merc and Audi is not beyond the realms of probability.
As for the 8 speed auto box,if is the same one that does duty in the 530d,guess I will just have to shelve my manual dream for now and make the best of a superb auto shift.
Cheers.

The front of the vision concept is amazing. The sharp cuts are accentuated by the tight curves. Choice of color also highlights the mean yet futuristic demeanor. Rear fenders didnt appear all that show stopping from the pictures.

I think the 1M is produced only in limited numbers, and they allocate by country. Singapore got 40 of them.

Re: BMW (including M5 India Launch) @ Auto Expo 2012

I spent quite some time at the BMW area yesterday and have to say the mighty M5 blew me away. I was actually in a state of awe. Now I feel as if I my 530d is no longer 'enough'. the M view on the HUD is awesome and I loved the rev counter that came up in full colour glory. The interiors lacked much wood but the sporty feel overall did a good job of portraying the pedigree of this sporty machine. The center console gear lever is very small and sporty as well. Lots of M badges all over the place and a fairly pro, invent one on the speedo.
I checked with BMW about test drives and they said it won't be possible. 5 cars already booked.

What is with this GS tourer? Is it going to be launched or is it just for us to drool on it.

Oh God, are you listening?

The secure package would cover 4 rims and tyres for the year. The rims and tyres would be replaced buy a small fee has to be paid, atleast this is how it happens for normal cars with secure package. It does not matter if the tyre wears out or burst, you have just a year to consume 4 tyres and rims.

The Jan edition of EVO has the M5 vs E63 vs XFR vs Panamera S.

They even have a track test with a cool distance vs speed graph overlay for each car.

I'll leave it across the street for you tomorrow.

PS - 100mph - 0mph braking, the M5 kills the E63 with close to a 20 meter advantage!! (2 & 5 meters respectively over the jag and porsche)

Re: BMW (including M5 India Launch) @ Auto Expo 2012

@Speedy: Thanks for the info, i will go thru the fine print when i get a chance, if the fee per tyre/rim is negligible, then most owners would opt to change them at the end of the 1st year even if it isnt worn out.

@Rehaan: I did see a video on youtube, the M does leave the others standing, but they should have included a E63 with AMG performace package, The porsche should have been a Turbo or Turbo S. Do you think that most of the test M cars are ringers with higher HP?

Rehaan,

Any chance you could post the scans of the same?

Have not driven the M5 but have driven the panamera and the E63 and am pretty sure M5 will smoke the other two,

And for anyone ordering the M5 please remember you can opt for a huge list of shades and options from the BMW INDIVIDUAL program, I'd love a frozen silver M5 with all black interior and piano black wood trim.

Regards,

Exactly what i thought too, but in the article they did mention that it wouldn't be fair to compare the Panamera Turbo or Turbo S, as its way over the M5 price bracket.

No idea! I haven't read many reviews at all.

If the cars were tested months before launch, its possible they were running a different tune. But at launch or just after -- i doubt BMW would do that ?

Re: BMW (including M5 India Launch) @ Auto Expo 2012

@Rehaan: I think i would pick the M5 over the E63 or Pana even it was the same or little slower in overall performance. I have still not seen the car in person, but from the pics it really looks the part. Love the subtle M styling. Will pick up the mag tom.

@S350 - If you customise the car it takes close to 6 months for delivery.

Re: BMW (including M5 India Launch) @ Auto Expo 2012

I am suppos to buy a large SUV in the middle of this year but now with the M5 am getting a serious itch to ditch that idea. Though with the m5 I would be having two f10 platforms in my garage which is kind of pointless so maybe I will get rid of the 530d and get an SUV anyway.

Some Pics That I could click:

BMW had the 2nd Best stall in my opinion. The guys there were welcoming unlike Audi where they were rude. Rather guys at BMW were enthusiastic and one of them just let me sit in the mighty M5.

My favourite Bike. Just cant get enough of this bike.
