Looking at the tail lights, vehicle appears to be Cheverolet Sail Hatchback.

Its definitely a Chevrolet for sure, the bowtie on the front grill wasn't covered! Plus the grill liiked similar to the existing Beat. Had a squarer headlight, similar to the Cruze.

agree:
It looks like Chevrolet has started testing the Sail HB.

Guess they would be launching the vehicle in a couple of months from now.

Its indeed the Chevy Sail!. Edited the thread title

This has already been launched at the Auto Expo.

Yes. Which leads me to the question - "Why the camouflage?". Everybody knows what the car is gonna look like. Its very strange, isn't it?

Perhaps, showcased is the right word? It is not launched but showcased at the expo.

for starters from the expo , i am yet to see any interior images of the sail and how can you "launch" without any price details?

Any mention about expected launch date and engine options that would be available?

Also those who have seen this vehicle in Auto Expo, with regards to space does it stand in the league of i20, Fabia or Jazz?

I don't know how many people know this. The Chevrolet SAIL is actually based on the erstwhile Opel Corsa Sail which was sold in India. The Chevy is based on the same platform but modernised. You could say a heavily facelifted Corsa.

If you search for Chevrolet Sail you will find interior pics which resemble the Corsa and were there on the older Chevrolet Sail. What we are getting in India is the latest updated SAIL with much better looking interiors than the Corsa.

So it's not actually a chinese product. It's got german roots somewhere.

Thanks for clearing that out!

Was under the impression that it is based on the old Aveo UV-A, which is nothing but the Daewoo Kalos.

By Chinese product, I hope you meant to say 'Korean' :D

No no I meant Chinese only. The SAIL is actually developed by SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation). SAIC was bought by GM and is now known as GM-SAIC.

Also the Chevrolet MPV is from China from a company called Wuling. :D

Wuling is now part of GM-SAIC and known as SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile.
