Remember the Fabia's "Full of Lovely Stuff" ad to the soundtrack of My Favourite Things - where they build a Fabia out of jelly, cake and strawberries?

Well, a Team-BHPian i met pointed out the vRS version of the ad to me. It was playing on the big screen at the Skoda stall, and its called "Made of Meaner stuff" :D Cool ad! Check it out:

Other cars

Skoda is clearly banking big-time on the Rapid. It was given center-stage (that too up on a revolving pedestal) at their stall.

The white vRS looks great on display doesn't it? Well, its got the bigger 17" wheels (we get 16-inchers on the vRS in India) - hence the leggy looks.

Mission L??!! Vision D??!!
Back in Geneva they said Mission L will be introduced in India first.

Thanks for the lovely photos, can we have more pictures of the RS.

Really wish they had the monte carlo here in India with a 110bhp/140bhp diesel engine. I would definitely pounce on it. Please Skoda.

Everything's great about the RS2000, including the AD. Mean Stuff indeed! But what happened to the corners of the front bumper? Yikes! Looks like an incomplete job.

Yes, I'd have loved to have a vRS version of the Fabia here in India. Just like they do for the Laura. It would come at a premium of course, but a 1.2 TSI or vRS would still have come in the league of the Rapid, if not more. I bet it'd still have takers considering the two sides of the coin (technology & fuel efficiency)

Lovely cars and very elegant stall setup. That white and green theme is plain, understated and pretty classy.

Love that RS2000, the Yeti and the Scout, not to forget the Rapid (which I think will easily measure up to consumer expectations overall and show solid results in terms of sales). Also not to forget the other assorted eye candy around!

Thanks Rehaan for the exclusive inputs of some outstanding stuff by Skoda India.. clap:
Being a big fan of Skoda, was eagerly waiting for this since day 1, but couldn't understand why nobody covered Skoda here till today. Now, would certainly like either to add some upgrades to my Fabia from the 'Monte-Carlo' or straightway opt for the SCOUT! Any speculations about the specs/ features/ price of Scout for India? Do share the info..

Where is the Mission L? Where is the Vision D? Why leave those, out of one their major market?

The RS2000 looks classy. Loved the green on the car.

Even the Monte Carlo Fabia looks great. Even if we dont see this version in India, a lot of Fabia onwers could actually get something like this done on their rides here.
Heck, a few BHPian's who own a white Fabia can look at inspiration and get it done :).

Looks like the Scout is not a stretched version of Fabia. I was expecting it to be longer than the Fabia, and a station wagon form factor (like Palio stretched to Adventure)

Skoda has lovely cars to display and does do that job quite well, but it no longer go the whole length in any of it's introductions. All models launched by them in the last couple of year stop a bit short of the full featured models, so no 1.6 on the Scout, No AT DSG on the Yeti, just the regular Laura Petrol on the VRS, even the recently introduced Rapid does skimp on features compared to the Vento and the fear is that the next Superb too will not be fully featured so as to differentiate from the Passat.

It is kinda taking a pure VFM positioning below the VW brand with looks still being evident and better than VW but features and other stuff that matter taking a beating.

The earlier positioning was that of having the best of features and technology at the best price for that techology but that meant the cars were priced higher not with better priced cars the technology seems to be missing. The Scout misses on too much of the stuff and just offers a rough weather cladding.

the yeti looks nice in the black and white combo, visited the showroom recently and they had some great price-offs on the yeti, overall good stand by skoda at the expo.

Yes. Agreed. My pal bought a Skoda Laura L&K in 2006-2007 and man, was that car loaded! Sun roof and all. Excellent deal though he paid close to 19 lacs then which was a large sum.

Unfortunately now, their overall VW company led strategy for India (all this top down nonsense), forces them to delete some of the kit that they can offer, in order to hold their positioning and segmentation vis a vis VW.

Personally I would say VW should let Skoda go right ahead by giving them free rein because the consumers can pick and choose between similarly specc-ed versions, from different manufacturers/brand names.

Personally I would prefer the Superb any day, in comparison to the Passat.
I would certainly want one day to look at/ consider the VW Tiguan but if the Yeti L&K 170BHP TDi CR 4x4 DSG were available in India instead, I would prefer that any day of the week!

Indeed on the other Skoda Forum - briskoda.net there is a chap in the UK who has bought the Yeti to replace his Tiguan for a variety of reasons.
