Takes a lot to hurt someone that drives the beast around - no offense taken even if intended!

As for me, I can never consider a Scorp after having driven the real beast around. No comparison.

Street Presence - Scorpio

You must be out of your mind..You don't know what street presence means...
By street presence are you talking in the same light as the Ambassador and Contessa having street presence ? The Safari needs some serious design changes as it looks very dated now.

Saying that someone posted pictures of the new Tata SUV platform and that will take the lead when it comes to street presence.

Interesting battle ahead. Just a shame Toyota cant get its act together.

You're right. Toyota seems to be drifting in India - perhaps they dont consider this market to be ready for them as yet...

Its a chicken and egg problem.
To sell something below 10L you need to make it in India.
To make it in India you should be able to justify 3000 units a month,
Current Toyota options will sell for 15L, hence around 500 sales/month.
If you look at Toyota worldwide volumes, even if they corner 2500-3000 sales a month, it does not make much sense for them yet to have a completely new assembly line with the support needed.

Hi folks,
I own a scorpio crde,we have been hunting for a good suv for my friend who owns a bolero. We visited both MPL and IG,on DLX version they are not willing to give a single rupee discount saying the volumes are good and we did not like their attitude.
I took him to VST to look at Safari lX 4X2.The current offer is 7.94 with 20k discount.
vehicle
He liked the vehicle better than scorpio.
Inspite of the niggling issues reported by all we took a decision to go with safari not only b'cos of the price.
Hope all you safari guys are happy that a scorpio user recommended a safari.

By street presence I mean, and have experienced it also on the meaner highways of North India, when in Safari you hoot while overtaking the nasty trucks, trailers or the 407s, they adjust their RVMs and look with disdain at the insolent vehicle that is hooting.

One look at my beast and pronto I get the right of the way..On city roads less said the better. You park your truck in the parking lot next to a merc and even his owner gives a look over when you mount your vehicle.

That is what I mean by street presence..

My vote goes to Safari

Recently I came back from Bangalore to UA & back(Gangotri, Kedarnath etc..) trip with family members in a Dicor. Its very comfortable..though I faced some problem on the trip..still my vote goes to Safari only due to
Its road presence.
High Speed Stability.
Braking confidence.
Snob value (not seen yet as Taxi).

If TeamBhp was a real yardstick of Indian auto market.,

1. OHC / Vtec will still be selling in India , as it is the best car money can buy

2. Palios would be the most preferred small cars

3. Baleno would still be selling like hot cakes,,as it is a classy fast sedan

4. And logan has officialy not done well , even after selling 2800 cars in May and scorpios will roll at every curve so will be in body shops all the time.

Looking at the actual sales figures over a period of time will give you a better picture IMO..

It is very rare that enthusiasts define a market.

Gear was falling properly while engine was on, taken vehicle for a checkup @Dehradun's Tata dealer they promptly attended it found Clatch plate burnt. They replaced that without any charge, since the vehicle was within waranty.

Well said W 12, also if it was just the snob value or the looks then qualis would not have sold as well as it did.

Plenty of Safari taxis in Punjab. Even small places like Bara Pind near Goraya has a couple of Safari Taxis.

Plenty of Scorpio Taxis as well.
