re: Renault (including Duster Unveil) @ Auto Expo 2012 - EDIT: Now launched at 7.19 Lacs

RxL 85 D will certainly be priced less than 8.5L.

But with the Option pack - who knows how crazy they may go?

Interesting Review.

The other point that surprised me was in the comments section of the review

I am not quite sure if they sell this car in your market with the 1,5 Dci (diesel) engine, but i can really tell you that i have pulled 2500-3000 kg trailer up to 100 km/h with the smaller version Renault/Dacia MCV. I mention that i have a commercial driver license and about 15 years experience. You can use it without any problems up to 200.000 km then sell it back to Romania to scrap and make another one. You can try the 1.5DCi 110 HP.
The 110 dCi seems to be quite a work horse. Even thought it is cheap, the engine, the gear box & chassis seem to be built like a tank. Pulling a 3 Ton trailer to a speeds of 100 kmph talks volumes of its pulling capacity.

A nice video showing the Duster's good body control on the road and some off-road prowess.

Just called Bangalore dealer to enquire about Duster. They confirmed the launch date but they do not have correct data on price. But they hinted at 7-10 L ex-showroom price in Bangalore, but no confirmation!!

When carefully observing the photographs of Duster in the Zigwheel's review, I noticed that the car has MRF tires. What do my fellow BHP-ians thing about this?
What are the options we have if at all we want to change them?

re: Renault (including Duster Unveil) @ Auto Expo 2012 - EDIT: Now launched at 7.19 Lacs

Before knowing the specs and variants i was considering the Petrol versions of Duster and EcoSport. But an absence of the petrol RxZ has made me strikeout the option of Duster.
Ecosport with EcoBoost engine and PowerShift is what i'm looking forward to. The local ford dealer tells that it will be on display starting November!

The tyres are MRF Wanderer with mixed reviews. Resident Tyre experts Nikhil and Iraghava will have better informed opinions.

The Tyre seize is 215-65-16 and options for this size online show Michelin Latitude, Conti 4x4 contact, Pirelli Scorpion (all pricey like 10k per tyre) and Hankook Dynapro, Geolander and GoodYear Wrangler at around 7k.

^^ yes, seems like the sensible choice would be to wear them out/2-3 yr usage & then go for something better..
Duster with the steel wheels looks horrible though... !

How much do four 16" alloys cost?

+1

But the OE alloys also looks bad. I guess the RxL 85 BHP + Option pack - OE Alloys + After Market Yummy looking alloys seems sensible.

Here's another video showcasing the off-road capabilities of the Duster.

Kindly ignore the language

This vehicle has generated a lot of interest in the Indian automobile market & rightly so. With the right pricing, Renault sure have a winner on their hands.

I really like the color of the OEM alloys available in the foreign market.

somehow, the looks of Duster are growing on me. I have started liking this vehicle. I also feel that Renault is able to create a buzz around Duster, which they could not do during their earlier product launches. With the right kind of pricing, this car has the potential to be a blockbuster hit.

Seems like the price is almost set up in every ones mind. 7-12 Laks.
If we go for mid variant also atr cost of 10L we at least expect a ABS feature + Alloy. Dont know what is waiting for us...
How about the price and availability of the parts. Any Renault owner can give us some light ?

Impressive. One thing I was noticing is, this version has multi-link independent suspension at the rear while the Indian version has semi independent-torsion beam type suspension.

re: Renault (including Duster Unveil) @ Auto Expo 2012 - EDIT: Now launched at 7.19 Lacs

This car is trump card for Renault in India.
Rs.9-9.30 lacs for 110PS Diesel base variant(or Mid-overall 'RxL' variant) means a huge success for this car here.

Truly India is getting what the auto enthusiasts always missed & Chevrolet Forester failed to deliver.
Goodluck to Renault India.
