Petrol Duster - 7.4
Diesel Duster 85PS - 7.9 - 10.2 (accross trim level)
Diesel Duster 110PS - 10.3 - 11.1 (accross trim level)

Lets see in a week if my sources were true
The way i See it, Duster 85 PS with option pack priced less than 10 Lakhs ex-showroom will still be a reasonably good deal compared to the 10.2 lakhs assumed, if it is true. The simple reason being that cars priced above 10 Lakhs attract a 5% extra Tax compared to cars priced below 10 Lakhs. So for Renault to make 20K more we the customer will have to pay 50K more to the government. At the end of the day, it is still the on road price which matters to the customer and 50K is a lot of money.
I have booked the duster in chennai, and my only three requirements were ABS, ABS and ABS. All other mumbo jumbo features pale in comparison to this basic safety feature. The pathetic and saddest part is that, to get this basic feature I may have to spend upwards of 11.5 Lakhs on road on the "World's Cheapest SUV" for just the ABS which i need.
And yeah" Sporty Aluminium Alloy Wheels", which greatly enhance the safety of the Duster are part of the Optional pack in RxL 85PS dCI and hence the additional cost.

I meant ABS is a Basic safety feature at this era and for this type of heavy vehicle. Don't know how many of us will agree for that. 85PS ABS expected to be priced almost @ 11L on road.

I think here is this thread most of the people are expecting 10L on road price tag. For Diesel with Basic Safety as ABS and Alloy wheel. They can cut down other feature like 2nd row AC or Reverse sensor is digestible. I think Renault has failed to understand the segment choice. Re-structuring the feature are welcome from them

The official price is not out, so don't get into a bashing mode so early, for Renault, they have made a practical car with not so bad looks, and good enough space, all those who are pointing at rear AC unit, can you tell me where you get more space than Duster, if Sunny is not in picture?@11L OTR?

And none of us has entered the vehicle as of now, so another 4 days and we may have an winner or runner in our hand, not a looser in any case. Renault may go on revenge mode and price Duster in a way that XUV sales get biggest hit, after all they still remember Logan episod.

re: Renault (including Duster Unveil) @ Auto Expo 2012 - EDIT: Now launched at 7.19 Lacs

It is not renault bashing, but imploring renault to hear the potential customer's voice before it is too late. After all, if one were to go by statistics alone TATA Safari GX and Scorpio VX also give ABS at prices which are in the 11.5 lakhs to 13 Lakhs Segment, and mind you they are "7" seaters. I only hope Renault do remember their logan episode where they restructured their pricing after it was launched making customers who trusted their brand initially not very happy. The only thing going for Renault is that performance wise it is a sure bet for at least 3 lakh Kms given normal maintenance.

However, that is not a given formula for success if the so called cheapest SUV in the world is priced at par with "Indian SUV"s. All the more reason for Renault to get their pricing right, especially when in our forum itself, our members are comparing the price in UK with the features provided. I am a resident of Chennai and I will definitely feel very aggrieved if Renault were to give a better price to a resident in UK, who is seven seas away from me, for my homegrown product than to me.

Moreover , in a way it is wishful thinking that somebody in Renault India will read our views and at least consider them when they price their product. And I repeat again, I have booked the Duster on 20th June itself as I hope to be the early bird. I just hope renault wont dissapoint me

This vehicle then, may very well pass my golf bag test!
Looks to be pretty roomy in the rear boot area. Certainly a little bigger than my Yetibeast.

Actually Duster's boot space of 475 ltr is substantially bigger then 417 ltr boot space of Yeti. Boot space is almost in the league of bigger SUVs (in fact bigger then Captiva, GV etc)

Really ice. I simply could not wait for it though. Which is why I went for the bigFoot. And now it looks that none of the variants apart from the top end one, will even come close to what I m looking for. And that top end one is still not comparable to the bigFoot in several ways.

Right, while Duster scores in terms of utility and ruggedness, Yeti is is sophisticated and feature packed. But price difference between top end Yeti (which is 22 lacs on-road Bangalore!) and Duster could be 7-8 lacs.

Even if they launch 85ps for 8.5-9L OTR it would fall in the i20/Swift diesel bracket.
But it would be a base Duster against fully loaded variants.

Had this been a Maruti/Hyundai Duster, sales would have been different.
I am not sure how many would put money on a Renualt product with service being thin and a unknown quantity.

Nice set of pictures.
Is it at dealership?

My favorite would be White with smoked Rear and Black Alloys with red lip.
The more is see Duster, more i like it.
It seems Ecosport is losing already to Duster in terms of looks.

Good pics. Seems the Duster is available for dealer display in Hyderabad. I think I will make a trip to Khivraj, Chennai and hope to see it in flesh.
I'm just curious though. Why are all the mirrors looking Silver?
