Adding Scorpio for comparison, which is higher & longer than both but less in width.

What is with the weight of the duster? Is that for real? the difference is substantial!

The weight is correct. Probably use of better technology and lighter material. This should have much better fuel efficiency than its contemprories.

That is absolutely correct. Check out the link for Duster's weight. The low weight is one of the many things going for this SUV. Renault.com - Dacia Duster

Weights are probably wrong. Weight of Tusocn is the total laden weight where as weight of Duster is unladen weight. There cannot be so much difference.

Look at that weight difference. Duster is so much more lighter and that too without compromising the rigidity (inferred from all the off-roading videos of Duster). Will have to wait to see if we get that 240Nm spec dci engine.
I hope the width has been put to good use on the inside and will prove to be comfortable for 3 passengers.

I may be wrong in this, but I am unable to find any other weight for the Duster on the web

Duster weight what you have posted is right. But the weight of the Tuscon is not the correct vehicle weight.

Only issue seems to be that its not very tall - 1625 mm. This compared to Scorpio - 1975, Tucson - 1730 and even some crossovers like Yeti - 1691 and Outlander - 1720.
This might show up in weaker road presence.

I don't know if this has been posted here or not, but the Dubai site for Duster has a brochure link too. Might be useful to some:

I was going through the euro NCAP site and found that the duster has only 3 stars out of 5 and the dacia duster (as its known in europe) was the least safe vehicle that euro NCAP tested in 2011. It got the poorest results.

I was considering it as a direct fierce opponent to the ecosport but now i don't think i shall consider it.

Here is the link:

http://www.euroncap.com/bestinclasscars2011.aspx

I think the ecosport shall get a 5 star safety rating as its based on the fiesta which has also got 5 stars.

Hyundai Tucson weight is around 3320 lbs / 1505 Kgs for the petrol version. Add a few more kgs for the diesel version and that makes it about 25% more than Duster

Checked the Dubai Brochure 2x4 & 4x4:

Gross vehicle weight (GVW) (kg) 1,775 / 1,850
Gross Train Weight (GTW) (kg) 2,975 / 3,350
