Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

Anything with a maruti badge is bound to sell in India. So irrespective of if they plan to give the tax benefits to customer or not people are bound to buy it. This is a fact we have to live with.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

OD has some nice snaps of the interior:

The fake wood trim actually looks really nice and the dual tone interiors does liven up the drab grey of yesteryear's.

The rear 'diffuser' area could have been done in black and it would look much better.

The rear badge says 'Swift Dzire' - so guess the current model would be discontinued !

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

I must say that the new Dzire looks better than the existing one, especially from the rear and the side. My father wanted to upgrade to the current Dzire and I was dead against it due to its looks. Maybe now, if he now wants to upgrade to the Dzire, I won't say no

EDIT: At 316L, the boot is only a bit larger than most of the new premium hatchbacks. Wonder how the car-buying public will take the reduction in boot capacity by about a third.

As per Autocar review Dzire CS has 316 litres.
Current one has 460 in L/V variants and 430 in Z variant.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

Overdrive talked high of Petrol Version.

I am keenly looking for an AT. Looking at the prices of existing cars, I was looking for an used car but now might as well hold on. VXi A/T apparently is with ABS. A few mods can be done. I pray it doesn't come with stock music system.

One thing for sure, old dezire's resale would be held very high owning to full size boot than the tiny one of this.

Any more information on A/T version, say mileage, driveability anywhere?

Looking at the apathy for A/T cars in india, I think this one can be obtained much faster than the others.

Hope some more information cuts in soon.

Rgds.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

From my source in MSIL, I am told that Maruti will position the existing Dzire in the taxi segment.
Maybe that is the reason for only "L" variant.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

Autocar has done a review recently. I never liked the Dzire. Its a way of spoiling a hot hatch for market share. Its a very dis-balanced car at high speed. I have seen atleast 4 toppling without any reason.

You cannot mess with the car monocoque's dynamics just to add a boot.

The new one how ever looks little better with SX4 tail cluster.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

I think this Dzire is sure to continue the success of its predecessor. The car looks much better on the outside. Interiors are very good as well. Option of automatic is a nice move. I guess this would also gradually move into the swift. Boot space is a compromise at 316L. I guess normal families could still do with it. The taxi segment now has the L version which may get some price cuts. Great attempt this time by MSIL.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

In my opinion a sedan version of cars like Swift, Fabia can never look prefect until the designer do something about that "Blacked A-Pillar" which sharply turn towards the roof. While the cars like Polo, Etios, Indica look decent in sedan version too because of having nice curve between A-Pillar and roof which is body-coloured too. Case of Manza is different where the bulky boot doesn't integrate perfectly with rest of the car becasue of bad design of that part.

I think I am seeing beige-black combo interiors first time in a Maruti, its good move from them. Providing an AT in mid variant tells how perfectly they price/place the cars, thats why they are on the top.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

We live in a world full of contradictions:

- Autocar says Diesel is Better, while Overdrive claims Petrol is Better
- Maruti will launch a <4m long car, yet price will remain the same
- The Dzire CS will have an Auto Box for our convenience, but neither on a Diesel nor on Zxi variant
- SRT will bat forever for Team India, but still wouldn't score that 100th century

In the midst of all this chaos, only a typical comprehensive Team-BHP report can be the saving grace and portray a better / unbiased idea of what to expect from this car!!

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

The boot space is not that great. 32 liters more than Figo for a quirky looking car. Since the swift is already over priced compared to Figo this will slot in above that. At that price point I'm not sure it will be vfm. Of course it's a maruti so will sell.

Basically if you want the swift but the only negative you have is the dismal boot space then this addresses that and will probably see the family guy buying this.

This dzire CS looks wacky. Talk about perverse incentives. The related less-than-1.2ltr rule has created underpowered cars that are not fuel efficient either. The finance minister who created the lower excise duty for sub 4m / 1.2l cars must be forced to use this monstrosity as his official vehicle!

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch new Swift DZire in February

Will the Manza and Etios see slightly better sales after this is launched? Since a lot many people might find the small boot a nuisance. It will be interesting to see the sales numbers a couple of months from now.

This one looks even more disgusting. And cars like these don't even make sense. A regular Swift is a far more pragmatic as well as appealing choice.

And that wood trimming inside looks so out of place on a car like this. Just doesn't cut it for me.
