Re: Next gen Defender to be made in INDIA!!

I just hope that Tata doesn't influence the JLR production line with "their way" of operation and QC. It will be disaster for all parties involved.

Re: Next gen Defender to be made in INDIA!!

There are some like me who specifically wanted the Aria to be based on a ladder frame chassis and would not have picked it up if it was a Monocoque. The same is proabably more true for those looking at picking up a defender. Dont see it going mono anytime soon.

There are still certain advantages of a mono chassis and especially for India conditions they do make a lot of sense. Defender owners in Europe do tend to take it to the country side and a bit off it.

Not only will it be cheaper to build, it would be cheaper to buy.
Absolutely right! It is indeed inevitable that knowledge processes will get shared. However, how long this will take is a moot point. And Yes! It will become far more possible for them to make these iconic vehicles at prices which are within our reach. On another note it is possibly the first set of steps towards the commoditization of these brands, at least in our country!

Along with technical knowledge let us hope that Tata also imbibe the manufacturing processes to produce vehicles with less niggles and better QA at the assembly line.

Re: Next gen Defender to be made in INDIA!!

Came across a couple of videos of the new Defender concept. Looks very butch albeit the interiors of the concept looks basic albeit the company claims it can be hosed down for a clean!!

Hoping Tata launches this car as soon as possible, even better is the potential of other UVs on the superb T5 platform.
