However in this preset scenario where a life has been lost , there was no mention about the Brand / Company . This is something that is not expected from a paper that people rely on for being true to atleast their knowledge.
VW are among the major advertisers in TOI across all editions. They spent around 6 crores for their "talking-ad" in the TOI for just a day's advertisement. So now you know why the "paid news of India" would go all guns blazing at the tiny nano (as you rightly pointed out) even after Tata did all they can to get it fixed & not a whimper against VW.

LOL .

What I can say about this poor chap. I wish him all the best.

PS - I just noted that his post was deleted and again he posted the same content one minute ago.

Re: Volkswagen Vento catches fire. Owner dies from burn injuries

Finally there is some communication from RTO and VW as per DNA news today. Though the reporter has wrongly mentioned about door locking etc, quotes from RTO and VW should be correct. RTO's first level analysis is there seems to be no mechanical fault, but they have not found the source of the problem. Statement from VW is very generic.

Members from MH, what are you up to? LOL
If they are so much worried about their reputation, I hope they come out with the truth at the earliest.

Nothing surprising from RTO and the police who are depending on the RTO report. Now everything rests on what VW has to say! Good going authorities, bunch of nincompoops, great for Indian consumers.

Re: Volkswagen Vento catches fire. Owner dies from burn injuries

Lets leave facebook aside and get back to the topic guys. If VW says their "technical experts" are currently investigating the matter, that's a step in the right direction.

I'm hopeful that the actual reason behind the fire is made public soon. It could very well save another life.

Hello,

News paper article says it is a petrol Vento. Earlier reports say it was a diesel Vento.

I see some confusion.

Thank you.

Car never met with accident. And if Volkswagen is trying to work out in this direction then but obvious they are trying to mislead.

They should come out clean and true on this matter. I have no hopes with the RTO people but as a VW owner i want VW to come up with truth.

I have a vento tdi hl. It locks automaticaaly when speed exceeds 15 kmph but doesn't unlock when speed falls below this. A programming error?

Many cars do that. The idea is above a speed limit you are ready for a drive. Just because you slow down or stop doesn't mean your trip ended. You can unlock it when you are ready to disembark.

It doesn't make sense to unlock every time the speed comes below 15 kmph because if it does then in city traffic/signals it will keep on unlocking/locking every few minutes unnecessarily. Also, this is not a good idea when kids are around.

Re: Volkswagen Vento catches fire. Owner dies from burn injuries

Heard that the burnt Vento is currently at the VW Plant in Chakan; some German engineers are also part of the analysis team. Just the fact that it's being done at the plant and not at the dealer shows that VW is taking this issue very seriously.

Again, the cause of the fire should be made public and any possible remedy (whether to do with the car or otherwise) made public. Even if it saves one life or a single injury, it's going be worth it.

well, good on VW that they are investigating it, but its very irrelevant.
The GoI should have structures in place to investigate.
This is like manson analysing himself.
(not comparing scales, just a figure of speech)

Ridiculous. The primary investigations need to be done by a 3rd party independant body related to vehicle testing/safety which should not be linked to any manufacturer. Isn't there something like the "Ombudsman" in this sector? I'm sure VW is taking this issue very seriously, even to cover up their loopholes.

Re: Volkswagen Vento catches fire. Owner dies from burn injuries

I think it’s getting a bit too much negative about VW, and assuming that they will not come up with a root cause, or will try to cover up the facts. What if they are deep into getting the reasons behind this? After all this is an important market for them, and I hope they make the findings public.
