Re: Toyota Corolla Altis Automatic now available in 2 variants

The price difference with on-road price would be near about 1.35 lakhs, which is brilliant as the features missing are nothing to shout about.

Its a good move by Toyota, no doubt it would increase their sales which has been floundering a bit.

Though the only miss would be smart entry.

My dad loved the car when he test drove. Maybe after this he might actually buy it

Re: Toyota Corolla Altis Automatic now available in 2 variants

Thanks for this thread, I have been seeing full page ads and jackets in HT Delhi for the same. AT now in G variant, but couldnt see the pricing on the site, they havent mentioned the variant name on the site GV.

Its good to see a cheaper Altis AT, however, seeing the way, the prices have increased for Altis over 1 year, this model will be above 14.5 L by next year.

Toyota offers the a version of the Corolla with a 2.0 Liter D4D engine that makes 300 nm Torque. This would have been the ideal engine for Corolla in India. But since they can use the 1.4 across the passenger car range in India, it makes more sense for them than the 2.0 D4D.

^^ absolutely ; the 1.4D4D will not mate well with the auto gearbox ; so a bigger engine would be required

Re: Toyota Corolla Altis Automatic now available in 2 variants

I recently drove an Audi A4 which has an AT and somehow could not get to grips with AT transmission per se'. Some purists like me will always strive for a manual which sadly many manufacturers have totally cut off from their lists (Audi included). Hope Toyota will bring in the new Camry with a manual too.

However it is a good move by Toyota and it will only enhance the charm of the 'Corolla' brand name to consolidate it's already existing leadership status in India in the D segment. Wish we could get that 2.0L Diesel in both the Corolla and the Camry to really shake up the market.

This is also an indication of the increasing acceptance / popularity of the AT. I wish we see some in the upper end hatch segment as well.

So nice to see toyota taking this step.

I had started a thread on the same topic and quoted altis prices as reference

Automatics are slowly being introduced by most manufacturers - lately - Skoda Rapid, Maruti Dzire

AT's surely are on the rise in India. I know a few of my friends who have gone in for an AT or are seriously considering buying one (including me!).
Surely the manufacturer's are serious. Need more of this in the hatch segment as well and more importantly right from the base variant!

Good move by Toyota, glad to see that car makers are now beginning to accept that automatic transmission is not a luxury, its growing to be a necessity and needs to be reachable by not just the premium/top-of-the-line buyers.

Although I think the price saving should have been more in the 1.5lakhs range
