The horrible grille is already known on the internet as the 'Predator Grille'. Haven't seen a bigger design error in recent times.

Just one of the reasons why Lexus is no longer the no.1 luxury car brand in the USA.

I sincerely hope that was a typo, and that you meant 1.3 cr. At 2.3 cr people can get all kinds of other machines which are far more desireable than a Lexus.

Lexus shouldn't go the Toyota way of overpricing the CBUs, it will do no good.

The grill & trims from the front view looks as if the car was standing near a heat source and got warped/deformed. In the side view the feature near the SIL (below the door) appears more like a dent. There are too many unnecessary lines and details.

Definitely not a typo, which is why I politely refused. Their reasoning for the price is the exclusivity it'll have, as there will be only 5 cars for India. The standard one will be around 2.1, and the one with the carbon goodies will be around 2.3.

With the Government banning diesels and and also promoting Hybrids, there isn't a better time for Lexus to enter India.
Reliability + Tax Benefits should really allow Lexus to attract a lot of customers.

It will be even more exclusive than they think then, since at that price even 5 may not sell.

LC is priced at 1,35 these days - ex-showroom. They are talking about 2 Crore Ex-showroom for LX and apparently have 3 confirmed orders at Chandigarh. If you book one today, chances are that deliveries will go beyond 2017 as per sales guy here

I am not sure if this is a private import or Toyota, as they normally get their vehicles from Japan which must be COO for this as well and they use a different port near chennai. Besides assessable value looks too high, landed costs considering this value will be over Rs 1 Cr

Lexus India - No Hybrid Only Range, Showrooms Opening Soon!

Major Metros to will have the Lexus showrooms. To start with Mumbai and Delhi early 2017.

The new dealers will be in premium locations corresponding to the brand's image that Toyota would want to portray. Those two dealers and the Lexus brand itself will likely have a quieter soft launch

The SUV range will comprise the range topping LX and the sleeker compact RX. The LX will likely have two variants - the petrol powered LX 570 and the diesel powered LX 450d. Both the LX petrol and diesel get V8 engines and an eight seater layout which will make it to India unchanged from its global spec. The much smaller RX - that competes with the Q5/GLC/X3, will be available in the hybrid only RX450h spec and is configured to a five-seater layout. The combined V6 engine and hybrid powerplant make upwards of 300bhp in the RX450

The sedan portfolio will only have the ES 300h for starters. The ES is about the same size as a Mercedes-Benz E-Class or a BMW 5 Series but is internationally priced similar to the cheaper Mercedes-Benz C-Class or BMW 3 Series

Good Joke by Toyota India. Considering their sky high Toyota prices, Lexus is Dead Before Arrival. There is no ways in hell the majority of Indians will take a boring Lexus over a BMW/Mercedes. Given the prices I'm expecting, I sure won't, reliability be damned.

Most of Toyota Dealers can only sell cars on strength of Toyota Brand in my opinion & they are not as aggressive like BMW / Mercedes or Audi. Now selling Lexus purely on reliability may not yield them numbers & they will have to match / undercut German prices which can happen only when they start assembling. Also, Toyota in India has been outright greedy, without absolutely no reasons, they will increase prices as they are aware there is no competition. To give an idea, despite Canadian Dollar getting depreciated by about 25 % in past 2 years, they have hardly increased their prices in Canada and here they will do a change at least twice in a year because of limited options in SUV / MUV. Unfortunately, that won't happen with Lexus. I doubt someone will pick a Lexus paying premium over Germans.
