I tried in Kerala. RTO Name, Owner name, Vehicle Brand are correct. Reg/Fitness date wrong. Bank loan I have closed. But still it shows.
However, good feature. Something is better than nothing.

It worked perfectly here in Trivandrum. It returned the details of my car and my bike (I being the second owner).
It reflects the RTO office and the owner name. I think this is a good initiative.

Kerala RTO website has such a feature which gives you all the details after entering the vehicle number and without entering chassis number. Works perfectly and is quite useful.

Worked flawlessly for my Fiat Uno sold about 2 years back.

And the best part is, this car was a 2000 year model and hence I guess it accepts cars registered before 2003 as mentioned by you.

The car registration details has now been transferred to the new owner.

Its giving incorrect information for my previously sold AP registered WagonR. I sold this car last year and the transfer is already done in the buyers name(AP VehicleRegistration site displays the current Owners name). But here, I got the message saying I am still the owner for this car. This is a 2006 registered car.

Works in Goa also and that too on a vehicle registered just two days ago!!!

Works awesome I just got details of my 1982 merc W123. It was re registered in 2009!! Something seems to work and hope it improves.

Send a SMS to 092123 57123 typing vahan <space> <regn number without space>
You would get the following information instantly
The Number of Ownership sequence, Owner name, Type of the vehicle, Make of the Vehicle, Registration fitness validity, the road tax validity

This data is available on all the vehicles registered or transacted in an RTO after 2003.


I think this is very useful in case of hit and run or while purchasing a used car

Tried for my old Zen which was registered in Wifes name but it still showed the 1st Owners name, though the RTO & vehicle info was accurate.

Tried for my current Manza and it throwed accurate info, does it mean that it will show only the 1st owner?
