Have you ever seen so many (Indica) Vistas in a Hollywood movie?

I was watching Top gear 18X03 and normally skip the 'Star in a reasonable priced' car bit. However, this time I watched it and came across Ryan Reynold's latest movie Safehouse and Jeremy previewed a clip for the audience and to my surprise, the scene had so many Indica Vistas!

The guys were probably using these cars only for filming but I wanted to share it with everybody here. I could count 5 Indica Vistas and 1 Santro Xing!

Here are the screenshots and a link to the video as well

[MODS - I hope I have posted in the right section; EDIT - Please correct the typo in the title!]

Honestly, I was surprised too!

However, while watching the show I could only manage to spot two Vistas (the first one here, and the one in the parking lot). I didn't bother to rewind and check the total number of Vista cars though. Thanks for sharing!

I think it's Cape Town where most part of the film has been shot. And if I am not mistaken the Vista is on sale there as well. Seems the Africans are liking it a lot.

It is definitely filmed somewhere in Cape Town. Yup, Tata are easily the biggest Indian car company selling vehicles in Africa. Nice that Tata's are slowly getting good exposure in the world market (unlike their first attempt with Rover at rebadging Indica's for the UK market which was an utter failure)

Tata introduced Indicas in SA around 2004 if I remember correctly. I was in SA that time and remember the derisive reviews by SA car magazines calling it all sorts of names but apparently within a short span of 6 months or so, the car notched up respectable sales numbers because just like in India, it is a VFM car in SA also.

Yes, the movie was filmed in Cape Town. They don't really show you the beautiful parts of Cape Town, but trust me, its one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been to (I lived there for 4 years also, 2003-2006).

Its interesting to see that the Saffers are buying more TATAs than Suzuki and Mitsubishi (these details are for February 2012). Very nice to see Mahindra up there also.

Total Market - NAAMSA Flash Results by Response Group Trendline - Total Market South Africa

Speaking of Indian manufacturers doing well overseas, I've seen plenty of Mahindra pick-up trucks here, especially in and around Melbourne. People here seem to prefer it over other cheaper brands, especially Chinese brands like Geely and Great Wall.

It will be interesting to see the numbers Tata/Mahindra do in markets like South Africa, but its exciting and satisfying nevertheless to see Indicas outside India. I saw quiet a few in UK and had a chance to get inside one of them in my office parking lot. They are definitely built better then the ones that are on sale in India.

Product placement maybe? Common in almost all Hollywood movies. A first for TATA.

I don't think this would classify as a product placement. If Ryan Reynolds gets into an indica manza and drives it and is chased by goons in black safari's and a black tata winger- that would be product placement. (think Transporter)

This is just co-incidence that these cars were there.

Good catch...I never took notice of this fact when I saw the episode.
It could be a product placement like othe members are poingint out. Can't wait to see the movie.

Glad to see it, and looking forward more to see Indian cars in foreign movies or at least in foreign locales .
AFAIR, saw a G-Wiz(Maini Reva) in National Treasure chase scene, and an old pre V2 Indica(faded black bumpers and all) in a song sequence in Vinaithand Varuvaaya.

Re: Have you ever seen so many (Indica) Vistas in a Hollywood movie?

Quite a nice catch. Seems like the world is waking up to India's call "Indica Vista's" call.

Well the car is a true VFM one unless one does not want to drop its perception about the Indicas. So it is not an Indica but a Vista. build quality is right up there and therefore the sales numbers at >10k a month.

Hi!!
A little OT but if we are talking about Indian vehicles overseas, I was really surprised to see BAJAJ auto Rickshaws in a small town called Quitsal in Guatemala.
And so much like India they had this pay by seat system and loading 5 passengers in it. Amusing!!

Cheers
