Fine of Rs. 400/day for delay in registration of XUV500?

So here it goes.
Got myself xuv on 26.12.2011 from gurgaon. But since i am from Amritsar, i wanted to RC to be made at Amritsar. But since the billing address was of gurgaon, I am unable to get the car registered in Amritsar.
So the only option left was to get it registered in gurgaon.

So called up the sales person in sterling mahindra asking him the amount required for registration of the xuv. To my shock, he quoted rs 400/day of delay as fine by haryana DTO over and above the 6% road tax.

When i tried to google the dto haryana's website is not updated.

So can anybody here can throw some light over the fines applicable.

And can someone refer me a reliable person who can arrange the registration of my car in gurgaon.

Yep he is right. The fine starts from the 20th day from the date of your invoice. Better talk to the dealer assigned agent personally and tell him to do what best he could to reduce the penalty. He wont agree straightaway but once the RC is made you can negotiate. I was ready to pay the fine but upon insisting for a proper receipt the agent said he can negotiate under the table if i wanted. In my case the RTO clark took 30-35% of the total penalty amount and it went through.
