ET - Mercedes-Benz plans to launch five compact cars in India; invest Rs 350 crore

Economic times reports that Mercedes will be launching as many as five compact cars in India by 2015.

Any idea which these cars would be? And importantly, would any of them be less than 20 lac to purchase?

The models being launched Globally are as follows,

Compact : A, B, CLC, CLC Shooting brake, GLC (X1/Q3 Competition), A small roadster was also in the works.

High End : S, S Coupe, S Cabrio (not sure yet but prototypes do exist), S Pullman,

Sport : SLS (Baby SLS) / SLS E-Cell (Electric SLS) / A car to replace SLR is also in works in 2017.

SUV : MLC (X6)

Out of the above please understand a few are work in progress names, and can change during final global launch, also not all of the above will make it here, I believe it will be the A, B, and GLC in the compact range, the rest are easy to get as they are above the Homologation norms and a lot easier to bring in,

Out of the above the following cars can if Mercedes India want, be priced below 20,

A-Class : Can have a launch at 14.xx Ex-Showroom, needs good localisation
B-Class : Can have a launch at 19.xx Ex-Showroom, Needs a manual too,
