| ![]() The Nissan Sunny CVT Review can be found at this link. Hey Guys, Please find the Nissan Sunny Pic spotted near Cubbon Park in Bangalore Looks likePETROL AT( DZIRE AT , FIESTA AT, RAPID AT) affect My Few Observations 1. Very Very Small badge in Rear Glass mentioning "CVT" (I think hardly one can see in the pic) 2. Car looked like petrol XL (Mid variant) as Silencer was silver in colour and not with black smoke, so i guess its not a diesel 3. Driver when driving released the brake and car typically moved forward, typically like in any Automatic Transmission ![]() Last edited by GTO : 21st April 2013 at 11:53. | ![]() Interesting to see that Nissan is dabbling with an AT of the Sunny... Should not be very difficult for them as they offer the same Sunny in AT model in Singapore.... This one is petrol - diesel Sunny has the "DCI Pure Drive" badge on the boot below where the variant is mentioned ! Let's see when they launch this and at what prices. |

| ![]() For some reason I have always seen the Nissan Sunny as an uninspiring car best used to be chauffeured around in. For people who wish to drive themselves, I do not know how many would actually opt for a Sunny petrol automatic. BUT if Nissan do end up gaining success with the auto, there is a possibility that it might soon after do its duty in the Micra which can be an ideal car for city commuting and might just end up being really popular among the ladies. Cause if you go to think about it, other than the i10 and A-star, there is no auto hatchback in the market and buyers have no option but to choose from among these two wherein the former is quite popular than the latter. Now the Micra Auto can surely be a game changer in that segment (a slightly deflated price tag would be the icing on the cake). |

| ![]() Thanks for the scoop, wonderful job. A good AT box, that too CVT, is good move by the Nissan. Now the CAAAR is with AT box as well. I hope they dont price it at substantial high price (as compared to Dzire- 1.23 L difference) Costs should not be more than 50k higher. Mods : Any TD report expected soon ? | ![]() Thats a very interesting move from Nissan. Also it shows their eagerness to take forward the car from its launch. Do they have any plans of coming out with an AT in Diesel also? |

Team-BHP Support ![]() ![]() | ![]() Great scoop, thanks for sharing! The Petrol Sunny wears a value-for-money pricetag. That automatically leaves Nissan enough room to price the Automatic variant competitively. Good times for AT fans; the Dzire AT & Rapid AT are pretty competent and for reasonably $$$ too. Now, when are we going to see some choice in sub-10 lakh rupee Diesel ATs? |

| ![]() Good move by Nissan. Very impressed with their overall game plan. And 2012 looks like the 'Year of AT' for the Indian market. |

| ![]() wish manufacturers launch AT in diesel segment as well. there are no diesel AT for any of the C segment cars. petrol is anyways expensive and with higher fuel consumption with an AT (not Fiesta which has a double clutch) I don's see a big demand for these cars. also CVT tend to have a very annoying rubber band effect. |

Senior - BHPian ![]() | ![]() Good scoop, this would help Nissan enter the AT market at a price point that could make others take notice. In the AT thread, there are many AT prospective customers who would most probably buy AT if it was priced right. This would help them. Hopefully the trend would continue and could build decent to good AT market in India, if Nissan prices it right, and others follow. |

| ![]() I think Ford should learn something here from Nissan for playing their Sedan game in overall pricing and positioning it so well. Though Sunny is not of my taste but it is indeed a great value for money caaar. With competition coming from Sunny we can expect pricing war heating up in Diesel segment as well. Thanks for sharing |

Senior - BHPian | ![]() Is that from your personal experience of CVT cars? Because I drove older Honda City CVT a lot and did not find any rubber band effect the auto magazines speak about. Or , may be the car I drove was gooood. But then if CVT were so bad, we wouldn't see it on many higher end cars we are seeing today. |

| ![]() @pgsagar Looks like the Honda CVT I drove must have had a problem. It was very annoying to hear the engine rev up and then the car starts to move. I am no expert on CVT technology so I cannot comment on it being implemented on higher end cars. |
