Yes, I agree with gravit2002.The fit and finish was good and comparable to european cars.I mean no panel gaps... good interiors and a nice paint job.

It does feel good to see the Indica rubbing shoulders with the best of the best in Europe. Plus its a diesel too.

The city rover has an Indica body, but the engine is still a rover. They bought the body from TATA not the whole thing with the engine.

Pure indian car? Well thats the Tata's. Indica, Telcoline
Made in india? Hyundais. They export about 20% of the vehicles made in India to various places around the world.

TATA (Telco) busses, mini busses are a huge hit in some middle-east countries. In one of the middle eastern, the tata busses virtually rules private school and company transport. The great thing is it took the market over from GMC (a GM heavy vehicle company).
Ashok leyland also has made a good name for it.
Force (formerly tempo) also has good sales with its variants of traveller.
As for cars which sell, i have only seen Scorpios in middle-east countries.

I saw a lot of Suzuki's in Europe particularly in Netherlands.

There were the Zen,Alto and 800(as known in India)..however all of them were called the Suzuki Alto.

Similarly the Baleno and the Esteem were there but called Suzuki Baleno.

Most of the cars had airbags. Also the Swift was common, but this was the one with the Multijet engine, better interiors and finish.

Well, about the subject... here in Chile there's two indian models... both from Suzuki... the Maruti (your 800) and the Alto.

The Suzuki Maruti (800) starts in Chile at RS. 237427

The Ambassadors in the UK are imported by a cab company called Karma Kabs (http://www.karmakabs.com/). They offer designer kabs for special occasions....

One picture.....

Sorry for the quality, phone cams dont work at night.

redcandle

PS: Mods, Couldnt reduce the size of the pic as imageshack only gave one link which was this above picture. Please help if it has to be reduced. The car is more visible when the image is smaller.
