re: Spied: Mahindra Verito Compact Variant. EDIT : New PICS on Page 3

Looks like Mahindra is trying to turn the Verito into a Notch back.
It makes sense as you get the versatility of an Hatchback and the boot space of a sedan.

Please price this sensibly undercutting some of the popular models in the market and we could be seeing more of this on the roads.

Also please change the name while you are at it and give the car a different presence in the market.

Seems like they are testing 2 versions. Or, is one a notchback and other a hatchback?

I may be wrong here, but the design of the blue car looks much more taught and proportionate to me than the current Verito sedan. I hope they make a good looking vehicle this time around as I think the Verito is one of the more under-rated cars in the Indian market due to its squarish looks.

Thats some super spy shots there. Yes really surprised about the tail light cluster placement.

The big question is what will they do with the space left out in the place of the traditional light placement. In the actual form the rear profile might look like a slightly elongated Punto!

But now I think the only difference in these 2 test mules is in the painting of doors. In the blue one, the B-pillar and the small section in the rear door is blackened, while it is all white in the other.

True, both the cars seem to be same, but the blackening removes the bad effect of the vertical drop in the rear door of Verito. It would have been much cleaner with a slightly longer rear door that helps avoid that vertical cut.

Even the car that crazydriver spotted seems to have this black theme on the B-pillars and the rear door. It looks like a plastic insert.

The blue coloured car really looks great in its side profile.
Its Alloy wheels are also very good looking for a car of such segment.

Regarding the rear looks, I guess the only saviour for this car is to have a rear boot-lid opening like a hatchback, else a sedan-like opening trunk will make it a poor-est looking car in the recently found CS segment.
The former will also give Mahindra an entry to hatchback segment.

A true blue notch back! At the cost of repeating someone else, Twitter sources say this car is getting launched within March this year. DZire, watch out.

Seems like the extra bulge on the C-pillar is not a fake thing. The marked portion in this picture has some metal elements, which clearly indicates that the tail lamp is not supposed to be there.

The tax exemption rules in India is causing the birth of some real "fun"tastic cars in India - Indigo CS, DZire, Quanto, and now this one! What else in the pipeline?

Looks like a boxy Fiesta sedan.
Pricing and timing of the launch would be a key factor.

Sad part is, my last set of spy pics didnt look believable enough. Hence, I made sure I got it bang-on target this time. Desperate times call for desperate measures - errr- photoshoot, although these are again mobile cam pics only.

Note - Alloys are not as fancy as the ones i spotted in the earlier car & and second pic screams hatchback proportions.

@romeomidhun: I feel it looks better than regular Verito. I was driving a new 1 month old Verito while shooting these pics.

Good catch, and the last pic shows it is clearly a hatchback, with lots of luggage space. For this kind of design, a huge rear spoiler is necessary, IMO. Otherwise, it may look like Palio Stile from rear angles - a lot of bulge at the lower part.

This so looks Palio (NOT the Stile). But I still kind of feel it could be a HIT or MISS design. Couldn't they integrate the lights & boot better? There is some disconnection of the rear in these pics.
