Wow !! This is a very comprehensive list that you have compiled. Would be a good resource for someone looking for an SUV/MUV and confused with the various options. Great work there, man !!!

I can understand the time and effort gone into compiling such an extensive list and we all bhpians appreciate the same.

Can we include the following vehicles in this list to make it complete:
1. Maruti Ertiga
2. Maruti Gypsy
3. Maruti Eeco
4. Chevrolet Tavera
Thank you for your appreciation buddy.

I accept that I forgot the Ertiga totally!

Gypsy and Eeco were not taken into consideration. But now that you said it, why not...??!!

I did not have the new Tavera's specs, that is the reason I purposely left that out.

Your thread addresses possibly the only grouse that I have about our wonderful forum i.e. the information is many a times quite fragmented and takes huge amount of effort to dig through it.

Such threads which summarize/consolidate the information in a crisp fashion are highly appreciated. Thanks again!

OT: Scorp missing from your signature?

EDIT : Can you please reconfirm the XUV prices? W8 4x2 for 13.97L in Mumbai? Not so sure.
Thank you buddy.

Scorpio is missing from my signature because we have sold it.

All the prices have been taken from a single source - ACI. The prices may be up and down by a few thousand rupees.

Voted this thread 5* Thanks Raj_5004!
Hey, print out costs Rs. 100/page.

Thank you mate!

I felt Thar & Gypsy is totally a different segment altogether. But I will surely add it.

I have already informed the MODS. Waiting for them to edit it.

GUYS, please keep pouring in your suggestions. I can ask the MODS to shift this back to the 'Assembly line' section (if that is possible) and add more cars as per your wish to improve this thread.

Re: All Indian SUVs & MUVs : Compared!

Good effort.
Title is slightly misleading as what we have is the data for different cars and not comparison. For that we need a table with parameter on one axis and cars on the other.
Also, you have mainly considered the engine related specifications but data on overall features (5 or 7 seater, 2WD or 4WD , etc)

Re: All Indian SUVs & MUVs : Compared!

Super thread Raj. Thank you. Must have taken quite some effort to compile this.

Do you also want to add the Premier Rio to this list?

Re: All Indian SUVs & MUVs : Compared!

HI, nice thread & rated 5 star. Is it possible to arrange the above info in a spread sheet like in columns so that we can easily compare the specs of different vehicles.

Sure, so I will add the Ertiga, new Tavera, Gypsy, Thar, Eeco, Omni & now the Rio to the list as well.

That is, if the MODS allow me to make such extensive changes to the thread. The vehicles are arranged according to their prices in ascending order, so I will need the liberty to edit all the posts.

The updated thread is back.

As far as possible, I have corrected the errors. Also, I have added the cars mentioned by fellow members - namely Ertiga, Gypsy, Eeco, Tavera, Thar, Rio, Omni & X1.

Thank you.

Nice Job Raj. Thanks for that. In fact today I was going through the forum searching various SUV reviews by members. You made my life much simpler. Thanks again.

Re: All Indian SUVs & MUVs : Compared!

The introduction of the Ford EcoSport and the Renault Duster will add a new dimension to the battle of the SUVs. Also, it won't be long before Mahindra step up and bring in the mini-Xylo and the new Scorpio.

Even the Swift-based SUV from Maruti is on the cards. So this list will need to be updated regularly.

Excellent compilation of statistic and photographs, Raj.

After the launch of the 4x2 variant, Skoda Yeti's on-road price is 15.2 Lacs.

I did not mention it as overpriced because, even though I personally agree with you, many feel that for that price, it is VFM.

You are right. 4X2 is available in both A/T and M/T. 4x4 is available only in A/T.

Variants of Endeavour -

2.5L 4x2 (Manual)
3.0L 4x2 (A/T)
3.0L 4x4 (A/T)

Thank you. I'll make the correction soon.

If the MODS allow me, I will make sure this list is updated regularly.

Swift based SUV - now that's interesting. I guess it will be like a beefed up Ertiga, kind of a mini Vitara?!

I used to subscribe to the thought process that the Yeti was overpriced but upon owning one now for the last 6 months or so, I have completely changed my mind. Having recently driven about a lot in a couple of different Audi A4's in Australia I feel my Yeti has a better overall build quality and feel. I think I can safely say this because on my trip I have driven more than 3000 odd Kms in those Audis and I have driven about 5000 Kms in my Yeti so far.

Incidentally the RRP for the similar Elegance spec of the Yeti 2 litre TDi in Australia is AUD 40211. Considering that the AUD is worth about Rs 54 right now, I think the Indian price of Rs 21.5 lacs odd, is reasonable indeed.
Incidentally the VW Tiguan in Australia costs AUD 42990 so I am rather hoping that they bring it into India at a reasonable price to offer consumers another compact SUV alternative!
The Volvo XC60 there costs AUD 58000 odd for the D5 so I don't know really if they can bring that one's price down any for us!
