Dam if its not going to be launched its going to a wasted chance for maruti. Ditto was the case with the 2-door zen, always made here for export but when the production ended they sold us the left up peices as limited editions(total b***sh*t).
If only they had sold the 2-door zen earlier :-(. i wud have the zen rather than the santro even though i like it now(cultured love?).

Heres hoping maruti has some sense. Jst bring some limited quantities like Kinetic did. i"m sure they can do it. N after all they were proudly saying at the expo yes we want to launch in ltd numbers if there's demand

PS: the times for 0-100 kmph for corolla auto n swift sport auto tested by ACI are 11.64 vs 11.5 resp. and since the manual corolla goes to the ton in about 9.07. The Swift sport manual should do pretty well.

the comparison with corolla is baseless ...
the corolla churns out that time with 87 octane and 'maybe-maybe not' adulterated fuel ... if the swift sport were to come to india it would be less than 115bhp for sure and with our fuel would have timings similar to nhc vtec and not corolla .. but still ... a hot hatch none the less ...

There is a way to get yourself the Swift Sport. Move to Europe. Read the whatcar.com linky that says Suzuki is going to launch the Swift sport in Europe in October this year after it's displayed at the Paris auto show. While a India launch seems next to impossible, I guess MUL can spring a surprise on us. The car was upto now only avaliable in Japan but now they are launching it in Europe so maybe India could be next?

There is also a note on a 2007 launch of the Alto city. I think something like that is more of a possiblity in India. But I guess we will have to wait till the Geneva Auto show to look at pics of the Alto city. Looks like the dice for the "all new and improved" Alto has already rolled! :D

Guys,

No current car co in India will ever do something like selling a true performance version of a main product line. The economics of doing business in India dont allow companies any risk margins. Skoda did it (Octy RS) for a completely different reason altogether - who would have ever given brand recognition to an otherwise low profile Czech company? Maruti on the other hand doesn't need to sell itself in India.
